From Scottish pen company Namisu comes the X-01, a capless rollerball inspired by the aerodynamic lines of spacecraft. Each one is precision machined from a solid piece of metal—your choice of aluminum, brass, or titanium—and boasts a distinct feel and superb balance in the hand. The solid metal twist mechanism is precision machined as well, and meant to offer reliability over many years of use. Equipped with a Schmidt P8126 refill and compatible with Parker-style refills, too, the X-01 writes more smoothly than ballpoints, as it uses water-based (rather than oil-based) ink. The aluminum and titanium models are on the lighter side, while the brass model weighs in at a hefty 2.6 ounces.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of black aluminum, gray aluminum, brass (+ $15), or titanium (+ $40). The brass is uncoated and will darken with age, forming a unique patina that reflects your use.
