I have to ask, what do you get from buying a box for $300? You're basically guaranteed to not make you money at all

JagrI understand but a booster box will get you at most 1-2 of each modern/legacy playable rare/mythic in the set while $300 spent on singles will get you a playset of Karn and Spellskite or a playset of every other card you care about competitively in the set.

* nostalgia or collectors value * drafting the format * caring ($$$) about the novelty of opening packs more than the efficiency buying singles
