Product Description
Handy and portable, the Nextool Flagship multi-tool comes with an array of tools to help you get through most daily tasks. Made from stainless steel, it measures just over 4 inches long, so you can take it pretty much anywhere you need it Read More
For only a few bucks more ($45 shipped on amazon) the Roxon S801s (the "upgrade" version, just has better steel for the knife and shears, 5cr15mov, not a bad budget steel - not the longest lasting edge, but VERY high corrosion resistance and toughness, and extremely easy to sharpen) has all these features, including the fold out heavy duty shears (a longer pair, I might add, that works with the tool closed) and everything on it locks. It trades the gut hook for an awl/reamer, and has a PROPER in-line screwdriver head and comes with a nice sheathe that holds a great bit driver set (of standard size bits, so you can swap them around as you like) and has a real carbide glass breaker on the end that you can unscrew if you don't want. It also includes a corkscrew and the bottle opener is integrated so it can be actually used like a proper waiter's corkscrew
The only thing it doesn't have is a pocket clip, but does come with the nice carrying case and bit driver set. A little bigger, but the extra large shears and versatility make it a crazy good multitool as long as you aren't going for the minimalist design.
Just a heads-up. As I'm writing this, you can buy this exact item on Aliexpress (on Nextool official Aliexpress store) for $28 and shipping now, not in one month. It's currently on sale for 15%, the regular price seems to be $33.
Seems to me there are a lot of wankers complaining more about the knife blade on thirty-dollar, fifteen function multi-tool, than they would about the blade on a $30 pocket knife.
SPOILER ALERT: no tool in a multi-tool device is intended to absolutely, positively replace a single, dedicated-purpose tool--particularly in a multi-tool that only costs thirty-bucks!
I encourage everyone who thinks their very lives may depend on the function of every tool in their multi-tool device, to cough up a few extra bucks and buy something more commensurate with their high and mighty standards:
Great product, I got the previous version of it (which doesn't have the "pro" branding) for a little less from one of the Chinese stores, I think it was Banggood. Not a bad deal at 30$.
Got mine. Wrote a decent review on it.
I think the one thing they could've done differently is, having a Phillips head screwdriver with an actual shaft on it. That's the one thing I missed about my old Gerber, because I could actually use it to open stuff with it, like the laptop it's laying on. Unless it's flush with a large surface, the screwdriver on this is kinda useless.
Other than that, no disappointments here.
I bought this in June 2019. I fiddled with it a bit, and left it on my desk.
A few days ago, having barely used it previously, I tried to use the scissors and discovered that the mechanism broke. I contacted Drop support and was told that the 30 day return period expired. I asked for the manufacturer’s contact information for a warranty replacement, and here is the response I got from Drop:
”Unfortunately we are not able to give out manufacturer contact information due to prior contracts and agreements. At Drop, we purchase our inventory through authorized dealers. As we then pass along this inventory to our members, we are a third party retailer. As the tool was not purchased directly from the manufacturer, any warranty provided may not be honored, as the purchase was made via a third party. As we are the direct buyer, the warranty is not transferable to the member unless otherwise stated on the run page. “
I would never have purchased this if I’d known it didn’t come with the manufacturer’s warranty. As you might imagine, I am very disappointed with this response. If Drop doesn’t change their mind quickly I’ll be filing a consumer fraud complaint with my state Attorney General, and I’ll also be reaching out to my credit card company for a chargeback.
Drop offered a 30 day, Nextorch/Nextool's warranty is for 15 days for a replacement and 5 years for repair. I do the purchasing for EDC and know where they came from, here is the link explaining the warranty and the link to submit a warranty claim with Nextool: http://www.nextorch.com/en/index.php/faq , http://www.nextorch.com/en/index.php/aftersales . Drop does run some products purchased from a 3rd party and the CS agent was just mistaken on this product.
