I bought this in June 2019. I fiddled with it a bit, and left it on my desk. A few days ago, having barely used it previously, I tried to use the scissors and discovered that the mechanism broke. I contacted Drop support and was told that the 30 day return period expired. I asked for the manufacturer’s contact information for a warranty replacement, and here is the response I got from Drop: ”Unfortunately we are not able to give out manufacturer contact information due to prior contracts and agreements. At Drop, we purchase our inventory through authorized dealers. As we then pass along this inventory to our members, we are a third party retailer. As the tool was not purchased directly from the manufacturer, any warranty provided may not be honored, as the purchase was made via a third party. As we are the direct buyer, the warranty is not transferable to the member unless otherwise stated on the run page. “ I would never have purchased this if I’d known it didn’t come with the manufacturer’s warranty. As you might imagine, I am very disappointed with this response. If Drop doesn’t change their mind quickly I’ll be filing a consumer fraud complaint with my state Attorney General, and I’ll also be reaching out to my credit card company for a chargeback.

chaosmagnetGreat post. Thank you for exposing another MD defect. Maybe they should have changed their name to Mass Defect. They could have still used the same initials.

chaosmagnetOh, boo-hoo; what a whiner! It's YOUR responsibility to verify the condition of anything and everything you buy/order the day you receive it--goes without saying! MD has their issues no doubt, but sorry Charlie, in this instance YOU ARE THE ISSUE. PS: my scissors work good! You can read all about them in my glowing FIVE-STAR review of this product ;- ) https://drop.com/buy/nextool-flagship-16-in-1-pro-multi-tool/reviews/2462688?utm_source=linkshare&referer=B2BDHC

RayFIt broke after I got it, after sitting on my desk. Enjoy your multitool, and I hope you never need warranty service for it.

chaosmagnetI would be embarrassed to ask for "warranty service" on a thirty-dollar anything! PS: nothing breaks, just sitting on one's desk--I suspect operator error ;- )

RayFThat's funny, I've been suspecting that you're a paid shill.
chaosmagnetI'm sorry you had a bad experience and want to clarify that the CS agents response is incorrect. We purchase these directly from the manufacturer and a receipt from Drop is a valid proof of purchase.

kstokleySo give the kid another tool! Just telling him CS made a mistake doesn't solve the problem.

kstokleyThis was from Brett R at your Customer Support on February 10th 2020: “Unfortunately we are not able to give out manufacturer contact information due to prior contracts and agreements. At Drop, we purchase our inventory through authorized dealers. As we then pass along this inventory to our members, we are a third party retailer. As the tool was not purchased directly from the manufacturer, any warranty provided may not be honored, as the purchase was made via a third party. As we are the direct buyer, the warranty is not transferable to the member unless otherwise stated on the run page.” So Drop.com sold me a tool that would have had a one year warranty, if only you hadn’t bought it grey market. I think you’re full of it.
chaosmagnetDrop offered a 30 day, Nextorch/Nextool's warranty is for 15 days for a replacement and 5 years for repair. I do the purchasing for EDC and know where they came from, here is the link explaining the warranty and the link to submit a warranty claim with Nextool: http://www.nextorch.com/en/index.php/faq , http://www.nextorch.com/en/index.php/aftersales . Drop does run some products purchased from a 3rd party and the CS agent was just mistaken on this product.
