1,000 lumens and USB charging for $35 seems like quite the bargain compared to similar lights by Fenix, Nitecore, etc. I don't know anything about Nextorch. Anyone care to chime in as far as reliability, warranty support, and overall quality?

LateralusI picked one of these up during the last drop. It's a nice enough light but has a few things it lacks that makes it cheaper than some of the brands you mentioned above. Things I like: Will take protected and unprotected 18650 Hidden usb charging port in the threads (I dislike rubber flaps over the ports) Partial press activation switch
Things I don't like: Won't tail stand (switch protrudes too far) No memory mode (always starts in turbo) No emitter option (cool white only)

Pacoboyd@Pacoboyd thanks very much for the response! Two more questions if you don't mind - does the light stay in high/turbo mode indefinitely, or does it lower the output after a certain number of minutes as a form of protection? Also, did your light come with a battery? The drop page says that one is included under "Specs" but not under the "Included" section. I purchased another light here where there was some confusion on that, and did not end up receiving a battery. Thanks again!

LateralusI honestly haven't run it hard in turbo mode to see if there is a stepdown mode (and I'm not really setup to measure that). It comes with a protected (flat top that slightly protrudes) Nextorch branded 2600mah 18650. I've run it with both protected (ncr18650b), unprotected (ncr18650ga), button top (30q), and flattop (generic LG) with no issues.

PacoboydOK, no worries. I wasn't really concerned with the actual amount of reduction (if there is one), just curious if this light did so because it wasn't mentioned and I know that some are programmed to do this. My Fenix PD32 *does* do this but like yourself, I typically don't use the highest mode for extended periods of time anyway. Again, I appreciate the reply and thanks for the confirmation regarding the battery.

Pacoboyd "No memory mode (always starts in turbo) No emitter option (cool white only)"
Yeah, those are reasons I wouldn't consider it. I mean shoot, even the ridiculously cheap Convoy S2+ has emitter options. And even though my Eagletac D25LC2 Clicky doesn't have memory, it at least always starts in low so you're not blinding yourself when you just need a tiny bit of light to see what you're doing. I actually set my low to the "moonlight" mode(or whatever you prefer to call it), just because it's nice when you're in a really low light environment, like a car.

MooTatersThanks for the input. I haven't bitten yet...was thinking of buying a couple of these for gifts. I doubt the recipients would be as picky as I am, as they've probably never used anything but Maglites and Sam's Club fly-by-night specials where the battery compartment breaks within the first 3 months.

LateralusYeah, last winter I got my father a duracell flashlight 4 pack from Costco. He was surprised at how bright they were, claimed 300 lumens I think. They're nothing special, cool white, and use those crappy 3xAAA holders(which have held up so far). At least they're better than the flashlights he'd buy had I not suggested it, he's had those bargain bin worthy 100 LED lights and junk of the sort in the past. Plus I finally got him on some NiMH rechargeables, since he has a buttload of AA's but no AAA's. This way he shouldn't have to go throw it away because batteries leaking like he did with a maglite...I swear it's always the C/D cell products that get leaked in like crazy(probably since so few things use them).

LateralusI always go back to my eagle eye x2r that I got for around $15. I’d be curious what nextorch customer service is like. Sometimes that’s worth paying for.

PacoboydSpot on, a Nichia emitter and an ability to start on a low setting would really make this one for me.
I've got one, it's great, and I really like the way the body is constructed, it doesn't have any hideous crenellations, it's rounded and feels good, like it was made to be carried and used as a light and not as a backup skullcrusher.
