Autumn is all about leaves turning and weather patterns changing—just like these Autumn Harvest Redux leather watch straps from Nick Mankey. The beauty of these straps is that they “pull-up,” which means they’ll crease and brighten wherever you bend them, a visible track record of your wear Read More
I have been wearing my Autumn Harvest Redux strap on my Seiko SARW 019 for a week now and absolutely dig its warm, live and vintage look. I want to comment on all the complaints about the strap breaking. I can see the material is prone to breaking at the point of bending where the studs are attached. However I disagree this is down to bad design decisions. I find the design absolutely spot on. The possibility your strap may break comes from the fact it is made from genuine leather and leather is prone to breaking when bent repetitively. If anyone is surprised this may happen then you are at the wrong place altogether - you are better off with a nylon strap or a thick generic strap that is sold virtually everywhere. To ensure my favorite strap will give me a happy smile for longer I came up with a simple tweak shown here using a piece of leather - I had a small leather tag that comes with a new pair of shoes that I had stored back in time. And for just in case, I am planning to order one more of Nick's straps using the generous discount voucher I found in the box for the time when this one will be too tired to serve me any more.
Cheers!
IraDeum@nmankeyWould it be possible to have a piece of scrap leather thrown in the box when I order my second strap so I can make my reinforcement from the same material. Thanks.
I just received my strap today, and while I really do like the look, I'm afraid the bottle of oil that came with it leaked into the tin. I've got nothing in the bottle, but the good news is, I won't need to condition my strap anytime soon. The little cloth bag and fitment instruction sheet got soaked as well. What sort of oil do you use, and where do I get more?
MastermungOh shoot! I'm very sorry about that. Let me know if you'd like anything replaced.
It contained Mink Oil though. Can be had on Amazon or other retailers!
nmankeyNo, that’s not necessary. I really just wanted to know what it was, since the strap isn’t the only leather good I own. I do appreciate the offer, however!
I just received mine in the mail. I wasn't expecting it to come in a tin, which was I thought was a pretty nice touch. The only thing is that all of the oil leaked out during shipping and was absorbed by the strap. It's still slightly damp but it smells pretty nice.
pauliwogVery sorry to hear that. I must admit that those viles were not the standard style that I would normally use. They appear to be total duds though. Let me know if you need anything replaced!
I just received mine. I think the studs are too big. For me at least.
But I have to admit the leather is amazing, it is soft and flexible. Supple.
I'm going to figure out a smaller stud to hold it, but I love it.
That's what I was thinking. I just received the watch today from amazon, looks great, but the band feels cheap. Doesn't really feel like leather despite the fact it is. And this one here looks quite attractive, and looks to be nice and soft.
spwathAll very true! I've never handled a leather quite as supple yet so rugged and dense as the Autumn Harvest from Acadia Leather. Makes for one super comfy strap though, that's for sure!

I just got a couple. I’m looking forward to getting them and trying them out. At this price I had to try them. The look is perfect for some of my vintage and retro watches.
