The glow is a durable coating, which is also coated once more with a weather resistant clear coat. After charging in the sun or strong light, the glow coat will always work. If you scuff or shear off the clear coat AND the glow coat then that damaged area will no longer glow. Getting the shoes very dirty will also prevent the glow coat from soaking in and giving off light. Take care of the kicks and the glow will last indefinitely.
