stealthyOr the Tamron U.S. non-gray market equivalent with 6 year warranty is only $349 with $100 rebate and you can walk out of a camera store with it today. I almost joined this drop earlier, but ultimately went with the Tamron version and I'm absolutely in love with that lens. I'm so impressed with it that I want to try other Tamrons now.
And by the way I had to pay for shipping I could have gotten a better deal for the money I paid to ship this I am furious about that I think I am done with massdrop this is my last one they should have done it differently with this vender
Sending the orders in the manor it was sent is stupid to use UPS and then the post office is not creative and not less expensive if this is what they were trying to achieve is save themselves the costs of shipping it was shipped last week and I am still waiting for it instead of just dropping it in the post office not good not happy about my lens that is bouncing around from one career to another

Also, USA market vs grey market is important. If you ever need to get it serviced, Nikon USA won't touch it if it is grey. Plus, Nikon apparently doesn't provide parts to third party repair companies anymore.
I don't know if you have owned any in the past, but be careful about 3rd party zoom lenses. They tend to have a lot more issues than Nikon/canon zooms!
SimplyTreYeah, I've always been hesitant to go to the third parties and I still am. The only lens I have that's not a Nikon lens is a seldom used Fisheye so I definitely have my hang ups about going generic, but I've already had to ship my 8 month old d750 back to Nikon for warranty service and my old d300 suffered from the grease spots that Nikon claimed to be a myth for a long time.
In light of recent experience, I'm a little less willing to see the Nikon brand as being ironclad. The Tamron comes with a six year warranty and the opinions I've read from people who've owned both seem to point at the Tamron as the better bet so wish me luck. This'll be my first Tamron lens.
I've owned this lens for longer than I can remember. It is a great lens for the price. The focal length range is great, the VR is great, and it is relatively light. Sure, there are better lenses but not for the price and weight.
Usual question for these types of drops... these are grey market, right? I picked up the 50mm lens earlier and I'm quite happy with it, but I just want to go into it knowing the full details.
