One of the smallest, lightest DSLRs on the market, the Nikon D3300 is equipped with a 24.2MP CMOS sensor and Nikon’s EXPEED 4 image processor, which eliminates the more common optical low-pass filter for improved sharpness. Working in tandem, the two provide professional image quality with excellent color accuracy. This entry-level camera is particularly adaptable for challenging shooting situations, with a wide ISO range that performs admirably (and quietly) even in low light. The processor enables continuous full-resolution shooting at a rate of 5 frames per second, as well as 1080p high-definition video.

All of Nikon’s usual modes are available on the D3300, as well as several improved features, special-effect modes, and in-camera post-processing capability. Autofocus face-tracking keeps subjects sharp while in motion. Scene auto-selection intelligently assesses current lighting conditions and chooses the preset scene mode with the best settings. Panorama mode takes high-resolution views of cityscapes and scenes. Active D-lighting accounts for high-contrast shooting by preserving an image's highlights and shadows for a more natural image. The new kit comes with an AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. This 3.1x normal zoom lens has a 35mm equivalency of 27 – 82.5mm and a minimum focus distance of 0.9 feet. The vibration-reduction with four stops of compensation prevents camera shake and keeps photos sharp, while two aspherical lens elements deliver superior optical performance with minimal lens aberrations. It measures 2.5 inches long and weighs 7.3 ounces.
