I own a Nikon D7100, and I take photos as a hobby, although some people have asked me to take professional pictures for them. I take pictures because I enjoy taking them, not necessarily to make money off of it. However, it's an investment. This was a great body 2 and a half years or so ago, but is starting to get outdated with all the great cameras coming out now. I would say I'm probably 2-3 more years before I'm really, really tempted at upgrading my camera body (along with my lenses and filters). I love this camera, and while I would have recommended it a year ago, it might be a bit more difficult to recommend now. If anyone has any questions about this camera, just let me know, and I'll answer it if I can.
I have these lenses: Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens Nikon 85mm f/3.5G AF-S DX ED VR Micro Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED
This speedlight: Nikon 4809 SB-910 Speedlight
This softbox: Fotodiox 6"x8" Softbox
These lens filters (among others): B+W 52mm XS-Pro HTC Kaesemann Circular Polarizer with Multi-Resistant Nano Coating Hoya 52mm ND8 HMC Filter Tiffen 52mm Digital Neutral Density Filter 52MM Altura Photo Neutral Density Professional Photography Filter Set (ND2 ND4 ND8) Sigma DG 52mm Multi-Coated UV Filter
Highly recommended accessories: SanDisk Extreme PRO SDSDXPA-064G-X46 SDXC (no waiting on the buffer to catch up when shooting in JPEG mode). Some sort of speedlight, it doesn't have to be the best one out there, but something for low light conditions. Any micro lens for close-up shots. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom (particularly if you shoot in RAW mode). Adobe Photoshop Photoshop Elements (helps for touch-ups after Lightroom post-processing).
