yeah the fact you can get it at all, and to top it off $100 off is great. I'd buy one but the 850 isn't that big enough of a step up from the 810 for me to upgrade

I own this camera--it's a pretty amazing tool! If you can swing $3k plus for a big-boy camera, this is the one. You can check out a few sample shots on my “World Famous, Internationaly Renowned“ Flickr page here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/rayfriedman/

I ordered mine from Adorama on Dec 1st last year and didn't receive it until Dec 28th. Evidently things haven't improved much in the first quarter of this year? All I can say is, if you have the time to wait and the money to burn, you won't be disappointed.

I didn't write my comment to be disrespectful or mean, it's just $100 isn't a substantial discount to risk what one would have to give up and who is to say that shipping would be any faster. If someone needed it in a hurry, they could always rent one for a short time or just wait until they are readily available. Patience... Now if it was a $500 discount, that would be something else... :)

EDIT: Massdrop has resolved this, at least in my opinion. They will give you a receipt from the authorized dealer if and when you require warranty service, and if anything goes wrong they will reimburse you for any repairs. You can see the post below for Duncan from Massdrop's response to my questions. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/nikon-d850-dslr-camera/talk/2017025?utm_source=linkshare&referer=T3XNMA
You will not be getting a Nikon warranty on this, like Massdrop is advertising. Look at this post below to see someone having to pay Canon out of pocket because of the lack of warranty. Massdrop reimbursed them, but has not clarified the situation for future purchasers. Nikon has essentially identical warranty practices as Canon. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/canon-ef-100-400mm-f-4-5-5-6l-is-ii-usm-lens/talk/1977363?utm_source=linkshare&referer=T3XNMA If you'd like, you can read more about the so-called warranty and why it isn't valid in these threads below. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/sigma-150-600mm-5-6-3-contemporary-dg-os-hsm-lens/talk/1930521?utm_source=linkshare&referer=T3XNMA https://www.massdrop.com/buy/nikon-50mm-f-1-8g-af-s-nikkor-fx-lens/talk/1909148?utm_source=linkshare&referer=T3XNMA

You're not going to get any notable cost savings, which on some of the lens drops were significant, without a workaround. Some of the lenses were selling at used prices but are new and have the warranty. Massdrop stated they are backing it if anything goes wrong, so worst case scenario is Nikon charges you for the repair and Massdrop reimburses you. That is good enough for me if the savings are significant enough, although I have yet to participate in any of the drops.
You, and everyone else, are entitled to their own opinion.

My question exactly is it a US Warranty and is it an authorized Nikon dealer eather one can cause them to not honor the warranty and worse if it isn’t a US version they will not repair it in the US

Nikon Canada will not do work under a US warranty as they are considered to be grey market - https://en.nikon.ca/nikon-products/grey-market.page

milw50717This is true in general if you're not buying from the same country you live in. The one exception is if you travel and need/buy something. Then you need to vouch it with a plane ticket or info. Not sure if they always accept this form of verification so YMMV.

Massdrop isn't an authorized Nikon dealer, and the "savings" is only about $100... PASS! Even if they buy from an authorized distributor and resell to us, we can't go to Nikon directly for warranty work, we have to go back to Massdrop, who has to go to the distributor. Not worth it, to me, for only $100, sorry.
