It’s hard to complain too much about getting 1800 lumens for $55. That said, it may be a bit overly optimistic to describe a torch with 31Kcd as a “long throw searchlight”.

Any idea on when this will ship?

From power button peeling rubber issue to manual being a little dirty from the factory.. The warranty certificate does not have a store stamp on it. I am not sure if I would have expected this from a Massdrop transaction. Maybe they are being adventurous with this product category?
What should I do? Am I being too picky? Other than that works as advertised. for now...

Is there a way of securely attaching the Nitecore EA42 to a bicycle - i.e. is there a bike mount for the light? I'm open to suggestions from other Massdropers for decent lights that can be mounted to bikes; thx!

Interesting... The EA45S, which also uses 4xAA batteries and a lower max Lumen rating, has a supposedly even longer throw but is not labeled as such

I really hope it's not a plastic piece of junk. It will determine my future participation in MassDrop

Chambelona1That's nothing to do with Massdrop EA 42 Tube is polycarbonate(plastic). I almost pulled the trigger on this.

Chambelona1Correct, "the handle is made of plastic and not metal, like the other explore series flashlights from nitecore, and makes it feel somewhat cheap. " from a review on Amazon

Nice weight. Perfect for lightweight mountaineering. Don't knock polycarbonate until you tried one.

StrummAgreed, polycarbonate can be extremely durable, while saving weight if manufactured correctly. This is an awesome light.
