My headlamp died after about half a year, didn't really get to use it because of the pandemic. The battery had dark spots on it and was dead, and the light wouldn't turn on with any of my other 18650 batteries. I reached out to Drop and they told me it comes with a warranty and that Nitecore will handle it. Nitecore customer support referred me to Longhorn Tactical in Texas, which is apparently where Drop got the headlamps from. They asked me to send it to them and after a couple of weeks I received it back in the mail, fully functional and with a brand new battery. Great support from Drop, Nitecore, and Longhorn Tactical. Very happy to have the light back.
hmm. strange, why is this a slick deal? Is there special additional goodies offered, e.g. extra battery and charger? Aliexpress sells it for $50 with free shipping
Just Received the Nitecore HC65- Seems to be well made and the 5 yr warranty is reassuring BUT the unit I received was obviously used. The box was torn open and had been retaped and there was dirt on the endcap. The contents otherwise did not appear to have been unpacked. WTF??? I generally don't mind buying open box merchandise but this should have been disclosed on the original listing. I'm going to take a guess, since this is sold through Amazon, I suspect it was a returned product. Again Mass Drop WTF???
I bought this light from some seller on Amazon a month or two ago and it has really come in handy for the nighttime dog walks. I think maybe my only complaint would be that the "mid" range output is a little bit more than I was expecting, and the "high" and "turbo" settings are only barely noticeably different. I end up using the little auxiliary white LED for mid settings and rarely use the main LED for anything above mid ("high" has come in handy a couple of times, it just isn't necessary most of the time).
The thing is, what that tells me is that there are one or two settings under mid that might have been useful in the house if they had existed. The low setting is perfect for not blinding you at night if you want to read something (not that I have run into a need for that, yet, but I've tried it out), but it is a little too low for navigating kid toys in a dark home. One setting midway between low and mid would have made this the perfect headlamp for me, but that's not to say I don't like it. It is a great little light.
The headbands are comfortable. I took off the top strap and generally use it strapped around a hat. I can't tell you whether it would be good for running/jogging/jumping out in front of moving vehicles, but it seems like it would stay on my head if I ever decided to take up playing jaywalk-chicken at night.
Man, i ordered this over a week ago. This is actually something i want. Like its on my Amazon wish list. I ecen spent 80$ on 4 batteries and a charger for this. And where is it? It says they expect it to be shipped by the 14th of may... thats almost a full month after i ordered and payed for it! Thats a 10$ savings for by the time i get it, over a month wait. Had i known that, i would have just bought it off Amazon!
Poi50nI have this light (bought elsewhere), and I've had it out in decent rains (like, not gale force winds driving rain, but enough to have made my trips out with the dog uncomfortable) and it hasn't developed any problems.
