Clever/thoughtful design; well made; too heavy for UL backpacking; not super bright
Fair price and cool Chapstick design. Not as bright as I'd hoped so not suited for home emergency kit. I wouldn't carry it for thru-hiking or section hiking with ultra-light gear - too heavy. But could be useful for car camping, short backpacking trips, glovebox, tacklebox, etc.

Easy to used
Durable material Only did dislike...wished it was a pushed button instead of the twisted to turn on and off.

Just to clarify, why only one handed control? When lying down in a small tent or under a tarp, one hand can reach a hung lamp, without having to lift the upper body off the ground/mat, so ought to be able to switch the light on or off. But a lamp that requires two hands to turn on or off, even though with very light resistance, will require raising the upper body, hence unnecessary effort, and disruption of one’s lying position. Tent life...

I try one hand that is no way you able to twist one hand to turned it on. Unless I'm doing something incorrectly.

The light seems to be pretty picky with what batteries work. I originally tried using a 1.2v rechargeable eneloop (shown in the product pictures) and the light wouldn't switch modes. So far the only battery that has worked, was a 1.5v lithium battery which isn't even recommended in the manual. Besides these issues, the light is fairly lightweight and compact and the lantern mode is perfect to hang at the top of a tent.

Very "handy"
A "soft" light source for different uses.

Bought 2 of them.
Love this lantern. Its small, it takes regular AA batteries and it works more like a lantern than a flashlight. Already used it at a camping trip a week ago. At full strength, its quite powerful. Don't know how long those AA batteries will last at that power though. Will be trying it out.

Good stick overall
This is the first item I own of this category and although I won't have much use for it any time soon, I don't regret buying it. What I love about it:
  • The build quality is definitely something.
  • The brightness levels are well balanced, although they differ from the anime window sunlight on the pictures.
  • The hidden magnet on its butt is a really nice touch.
  • The knob is designed to be easily turned even with greasy or wet hands.
  • It's very easy to use.

What I don't like about it:
  • The bulb has 2 medium thickness greyish lines going about the middle horizontally, and I find it very distracting. It's probably a manufacturing thing, similar to lines you'd find in a normal bottle of water. But they don't show it anywhere on the pictures.

I really like this light. I've had it for about a month now and I got to use it on a recent camping trip. Put outs a decent amount of light even on the lowest setting. Uses a single AA battery so it's quite convenient to pack backups. I'll probably get the CRI version of this and use it as a light for photography.
