48thRonin2You twist the bottom part. To change modes you twist it off and on again. If you twist it off just a little, you can press on it for momentary light. Turn the ring above that to extend the diffuser (like a tube of lipstick).
Not the best interface with those two rings next to each other, but if you don't mind using two hands it works fine.

Any user interface that requires two hands to make it work makes the flashlight useless as far as I'm concerned... another stupid Chinese designed switching mechanism... designed by people who never use illumination tools in real life....
48thRonin2It’s primarily meant to be used in a tent and perfectly suited for that purpose. 1000lm is way too much for that application, but you can run it at lower levels and enjoy the increased runtime compared to the LA10. Shame about the lack of a CRI option, though.
