Am I the only one who feels that the giant tire in the middle of the body ruins this light?
It just seems to add extra bulk that would be just a bit too much in the front pocket.

I think the giant tire in the middle of the body is a ring that unscrews to reveal the charging dock.

Because there needs to be material to cut the internal threads into, and also the external knurling. If it were too thin, it would be easily crushable and would end up rendering the torch useless. The barrel of the torch is also stepped up inside the collar. What's inside the collar is larger in diameter than what you see continuing after the collar.
