The headlamp search is over. This is the best one for me.
This is maybe the seventh I've bought since I started backpacking 3 years ago. I have some from Coast, Black Diamond, Uco (the worst by far, and I've tried two), and another random brand on amazon that sent me one for free.
I LOVE rechargeable flashlights for backpacking (especially trips <1 week). I never have to worry about how much power is left in the batteries or throw out half-empty ones, because I can just start every trip with a completely full charge.
Of course lightweight gear is valuable in backpacking, but that goes double for things I'll have to strap to my head for hours at a time. This one is light and comfy, and it doesn't give me a headache.
No, it's not as bright as some of the bigger, clunkier headbands I've owned, but the brightness is more than adequate! Your eyes get used to whatever level of light is going into them, so you don't notice the difference in brightness between different flashlights (outside of the first 10-20 seconds after turning them on).
