Groundhog Day,
35g domes just don't want to grow up to become 45g or 55g ... domes. Some folks just don't seem to listen, people have expressed their interest in other domes countless times.
Edit: To be more specific, not asking to remove 35g, just for adding options for heavier domes!

AugustCanailleWell, nope, the point is to have options! Even Niz Plum is offering 35g/45g option at there own store for some keyboards: https://www.nizkeyboard.com/product-category/niz-capacitive/ Have a nice weekend

$89.00 for electro-capacitive programmable keyboard with dampened MX-compatible sliders and thick PBT keycaps. That's insane. Giving HHKB makeover to get something similar would end up in spending ~$600.
I don't like the layout so I'll skip it but definetly interested in the same thing but regular 61 key version or collaboration with Vortex and making Pok3r with these switches. That would've been killer.
Afaik all of the models have them. I'm currently using the 75 and it has them and it is amazing!

killyouThere's a minute difference in feel that if you can tell the difference then you can tell which one you like better. Topre has a very VERY distinct feel that others really replicate, but don't quite match. But once you get into different sliders, domes, and springs, then really the only thing you're choosing from the start is your beginning experience, and the case's manufacturer. Some would pay extra for it.
I've done a lot of topre/electro capacitve considering. Though I think I'll pass on any option until I am able to afford an hhkb 2 pro type-s jp in beige, then I think I'm going to be fine without them.

TaeKeyboards on YouTube posted a very comprehensive review of this board earlier today: https://youtu.be/-1vwM_PBqck
He touches on default layers, software, keycap sizing, bluetooth, backlighting, build quality and internals, and, of course, the switches.

Is this keyboard the latest version with the new silent switches (NiZ 2019 NEW Member atom66
)?

aparezcoI received this board recently from the group buy in August. These are the new ones with the transparent housings. I don't know the differences they did to the new one, nor have any to compare to.

Supposedly the Varmilo and leopolds come out of the same factory. But I suspect that's not entirely accurate. I have the old FC660M (made in China) in mx clears and it is reasonably well built. No major twist or warp at least. But only other varmilo I have is the numpad which feels that little bit flimsy. But yeah, sample size of 1. So grain of salt and all.
The new FC660m are made in Taiwan now so I would hope they're better. The sound dampening mat is also included now, so that saves some effort too. It's slightly echoy without it. Might be worth the effort to find one to try since it seems to sastify all your wants.

How programmable is this? Are there any limitations with changing any of the bottom row keys?
Any reviews on how this might turn out with a dome swap? How smooth will they feel after the collapse?
I do love this layout, but 35g is too light for me.

I now have the Plum87 w/ the optional springs installed and Jessica GMK Plum keycaps sitting next to the HHKB. The Plum represents itself very well, the action is slightly lighter, but not by much. The springs give the Plum a solid boost from 35g, but still just a bit shy of the HHKB's 45g. The Plum actually has a lower pitch thunk and is a bit quieter than the HHKB. The HHKB has a bit of that higher pitched clack that you get with Cherry switches.
Now that I finally have an HHKB Pro 2 on my desk, I'm still very impressed with the quality of the Plum keyboards and their EC switches. .. especially for the price.

As always, you can get this on taobao for rougly the same price (saving about $10 on the rgb model). You don't need to wait half a year for this.

BoofinMoonrocksA Micro 82 would be really nice as well, both of them are compact layouts with standard spacebars.

I'm befuddled by Niz's decision to make a mx compatible board but handicap it with the crazy layout with a completely non-standard space bar. wtf man?

Very disappointed in the layout on this board. 1u backspace just is not usable at all unless it's right above the Enter key.
Urano_MetriaMaybe this will help

Urano_MetriaThere is literally a 2u backspace that I'm assuming they have as a POS style 2u cap. It looks like it's included.

Just got a Niz. The 68. I gotta say… Hardware? 9 out of 10. The typing experience is phenomenal. Deduct one point for the all-plastic construction. But the software? 1 out 10. Truly abysmal… bugs galore. RGB doesn’t work in BT mode, Fn + inputs work only occasionally, and which mode you are in (or not, as the case may be) is often impossible to figure out, because the board only randomly gives an indication if it has accepted the command when you attempt to switch modes… And these are modes that have a major impact on usability, such as low power draw, MAC or Windows, Office/Game/Program etc etc etc. Usually when I deem a keyboard to be upside down software-wise, it’s the little things… No charging/charged indicator, for instance. Of course, the Niz screws that up as well, but in the face of such other major issues, it’s nearly forgotten. And good luck finding any kind of user manual. Niz boards do not come with English-language user manuals. You can download one on their site, but it is so poorly translated, it is nearly impossible to use. And even if it were translated properly, it would be largely useless anyway, as it simply skips over or does not address major areas of information. Under the Bluetooth connection section, for instance, it starts out with specs/basic info -how many devices the board can handle, and what the pairing flashing looks like- but then skips directly to advanced instructions for pairing the board with a second device after it is already paired with a first. It completely omits the basic instructions for how to pair it to that first device. All in all, I think Niz makes great hardware, and a lovely typing experience, but if they are to successfully challenge other Topre boards on the market, they need to bite the bullet, spend the money, and hire professionals to take over the programming and software duties. They are pretty obviously utilizing the skills of an amateur in that department right now, and while that person(s) may be talented, a for-market alpha product is not the place for an amateur to cut their teeth. Bottom line- until Niz makes some changes, I can’t recommend their boards. The software is simply not remotely acceptable in a board that costs this much. It wouldn’t even be remotely acceptable in a budget entry-level $25 generic “AliExpress Special” mechanical, honestly. It’s a shame, because the typing experience really is sublime.
