Audiophile 101: Essential Gear Overview
Image credit @zhugunic https://drop.com/talk/67372/gl-2-k Do I need an amp? What are these acronyms like DAC, DSP, or DSD? What even are all the components that make up an audio chain? Let’s take a beginner’s look at the core, essential building blocks of a digital audio chain, and lay it plain what each piece does. We can cover the major pieces separately, but I’ll still include a few tips to optimize playback here. Please hit the little bookmark button and feel free to check and share this guide whenever you need a reference! For people who need a visual and audible explanation, or are worried it would take too long to get a working knowledge of the audio chain, here is my YouTube video on this subject that is just 7 minutes long! I like writing though, so let’s get started with an overview, then break it down into what each piece does and how an upgrade would benefit the final sound quality. But with the new universals in the pre order stage and none having been shipped yet, I don't see this drop happening again any time soon, unless Noble has a larger back inventory of the older 6s (which I suspect is u likely and was the impetus for this original drop in the first place -- to clear out inventory ahead of the new announcement of new models).
The 1 plus 2 has better bass (dynamic driver), but the N6 is more natural and the mids and highs are clearer and more resolving. I prefer the Aurisonics 2.5, if I am being honest.
The only thing the Angie has going for it is soundstage, which is larger than the N6 (but not huge). Of those mentioned, it is my favorite.
As an all rounder, the N6 is best of the bunch. If it were more available, the tg334 would be a good alternative, but it is very hard to get a hold of.
Hope that is helpful.
Based on what i've read on the angie and 1plus2, i think i'll strike those off as potential candidates and mainly consider n6 and tg334.
