Just why? Who asked for this, oh that's right, nobody.
Jul 2, 2021
Jdub11Actually, our distributor in Korea asked if we could build a set of Sultans out of solid gold. The back story is our distributor in Korea has connections with a group of IEM enthusiasts that like to collect rare & unique IEMs. Our distributor initially asked if we could build the Sultan out of brass. We told them we already built the Encore out of brass. They decided brass would not be unique enough & then asked if we have the ability to build a Sultan out of gold.

HefeAlright...how did they end up in Drop?
Jul 2, 2021
Alejo1707Korea didn't buy all 5 sets. As volume goes up Manufacturing prices go down. If we had only built one for Korea the price would have been a lot more. Furthermore, during the build our distributor for Europe contacted Harrods which is why a set is currently at Harrods. Another set is scheduled to go to Hong Kong as well. As far as drop is concerned, I'm not sure I can openly discuss that or not & even then I don't know the fine details. In fact drop never contacted me at all. I don't generally make deals and discuss money transactions contracts & such. Those are topics handled by my brother / business partner at HQ. He is a corporate lawyer and more suited for that type of activity.

HefeDon't get me wrong, I know you guys have an amazing audio company, and a couple of your IEMs I am looking forward to get, but considering Drop roots, is there any benefit to sound rather than just being for the bling and exclusivity factor? Moreover, I am not seeing how producing 5 instead of a single one would benefit you guys economically, for although it reduces manu costs, you are still left with the issue of selling 4 very expensive nuggets, instead of just telling the customer "it's gonna cost you 30-40k, oh you don't want it at that price? Shame..."

Alejo1707Not everything we do makes a tremendous amount of margin, some things we do, because we like the challenge. Actually, I hope a few stay with us, because I imagine they would make a nice attraction at upcoming audio shows.

Alejo1707Noble Audio is just chi-fi, look at their FRN. It’s all a scam.

HefeSo what you're really saying is that you poured a ton of money into making these ridiculous things and then found out that nobody was going to actually buy them. So, you needed someplace to dump them and decided to pick up the phone and call your old friends at Drop. The rest, as they say, is history. Does that about sum it up?

HefeWhen Sennheiser launched their HE1 for the same cost of a SUV I was shocked, until I learned it's a full fledged audio system, with top shelf components and a lot of money poured into R&D. Does this IEMs technology is on par with the price tag? I understand some people find bling appealing, but to my perspective, you can put as many diamonds and jewels into anything and I wouldn't care less for it. I think what I'm trying to say is, is this just a smoke screen?

Alejo1707It's an existing product / model (current flagship) made with a solid gold housing and adorned with diamonds. Basically, functional jewelry, like a watch made from gold and adorned with jewelry.

HefeYep, not my cup of tea. I understand there would be people interested in these, but personally I don't even like jewelry.

ThesesuckThey created the Noble Kaiser, which has garnered good reviews on his own, nevertheless, it's a shame to see such amounts of money poured into bling rather than actual improvements.
