Can someone tell me what's so special about the nomos neomatik (which i believe is the DUW3001)? is it just the 1st edition of their in-house swing movement watch? What is the difference between the Neomatik and the Nomos Swing System? Thanks in advance!

TayathThe swing system is the escapement, which is one component of the mechanical watch. It's the most technically impressive part if it can be made independently instead of by using a pre-existing design (by ETA or some other). It's incorporated in some of the more modern movements, but not all yet. Eventually all watches will use the Swing System escapement.
The DUW3001 movement is an automatic movement made in-house. It also has the Swing System escapement.

loercaseThank you for the reply, just to make sure i understand correctly, does that mean the neomatik is the same as the watches that displays "nomos swing system"?

TayathAll Neomatik watches (Nomos' name for their automatic movement) use the Swing System escapement, but not all watches with the Swing System are automatic. Many are handwound, and many of the older models using the Alpha, Beta, Zeta movements (or whatever) don't use the Swing System. Some do, some don't. You have to look on the website.

loercaseMost of the newer watches are DUW now and i remember reading somewhere theyre switch to all in house eventually. So isnt that the same as neomatik? all in house movement?

TayathNo, the Neomatik is just Nomos' term for their new automatic movement. Most of their older watches are handwound with movement names like Alpha, Beta, Zeta. These are "in house" made movements, but they are still just modified versions of existing movements and use a Swiss-sourced escapement. When Nomos made their own escapement, the Swing System, it was a big deal. All their new watches use the Swing System escapement.
A few years ago Nomos made a new automatic movement, and all the new watches with this movement have the "Neomatik" moniker. The other handwound movements will not be Neomatik, but as long as they have the Swing System they are about as all in-house as it gets.
