Great for those who are a bit messier at the keys, Kailh BOX switches are IP56 rated to keep dust and moisture out. Created with a box around the cross stem instead of the cross stem just sticking up, they’re built to avoid corrosion and debris buildup Read More

- July 30, 2019 - There have been some recent reports of customer's experiencing issues with BOX switches and GMK keycaps. Because of this, I have worked/talked to Kailh to get to the bottom of this. For the long explanation, go to my reddit account and see my latest post. The issue will be resolved, but this is going to delay this drop. I apologize for the delay, but I would rather have this issue fixed asap. I should be able to still get this round shipped out by the middle of September.
Just to clarify, so I know my understanding is correct: The switches were made to a specification designed for one manufacturer who was using an atypical size, so all of the switches were made to that size at the time, and the sizing was never changed, which is why some people are experiencing problems, and the new batches will be made to a more universal or general sizing specification that should not cause standard keycaps to break?
I love these switches (Box Navy); I currently use them on my K-Type.
I would've advised you to just get the switches straight from Novelkeys since you are only saving a couple dollars and are gonna have to wait a few months by getting them off massdrop. However it seems they (Box Navy) are sold out at the moment and I don't know when he expects another batch.
Either way; these switches are awesome would 100% recommend.
On the contrary you very much DON'T want the switch to actuate before the click. That was the general main complaint with the bronze switches. If you prefer it that way the more power to you; though I'm sure most people would rather have the tactile feedback initiate at the time of actuation/a little before since the tactile bump tends to make you bottom out anyways. May as well go linear if you are trying to avoid the tactile bump/click.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but, regarding the box around the cross stem and the idea that it prevents or lessens the extent to which debris falls into the switch - I don't believe this is accurate.
The perimeter of the box is greater than the perimeter of the cross stem. And since the box can be depressed into the switch, there's more space for debris to fall in, not less. Alternatively, if the cross stem could be depressed inside a stationary box then that would be a different matter, and would indeed allow the stationary box to serve as a shield around the moving stem - but that's not how the switch works.
etatauriThe box is a single molded piece with the cross, it moves up and down with the keycaps. Anything that falls into that space could be a problem while the keycaps are off, but won't fall into the switch internals. Since the box is the same size no matter what position bthe switch is in, it helps prevent dust, crumbs, etc from falling past the switch slider into the body of the switch. As othets have explained this also makes the switch more stable. What you describe is only a problem if you're eating something while switching keycaps, and even then you should be able to blow whatever has fallen between the box and the cross out easily.
I really want to grab a bag of these, but I'm sketched on the Jade's anyone who hasn't see chyrosan's second video on the subject (
) should take a look. Have they fixed the weighting on the Jade's spring?
I used to regularly use mx blues and then shifted over to mx clears. The Navy's are my new favorite switch; I can never use mx blues now. I still like my clears but I definitely enjoy the navy's more.
I put them in a build!

I'm kind of shocked by how much closer these feel to buckling spring. It's still not quite all the way there. It feels sharper somehow, less bouncy, but still worlds closer than Cherry Clears.
Cherry has the brand name and sure, they sell extremely well for "gamer keyboards", but like you've said, their competitors are doing a great job an right now the only Cherry thing I'd buy would be their stabs and their retooled blacks.
70pcs - $0.31/switch
110 pcs - $0.28/switch
The only place I have been able to find these for sale online is Novelkeys who sell them in packs of ten at $0.34/switch
Shipping to me from Massdrop - $2.75
Shipping to me from Novelkeys - $3.85
OldCat10 grams is often the difference between someone's favorite and least favorite switch..
The difference between MX browns and MX clears is only 10g
Gateron linears go 35 to 45 to 50
Zealio's tactile switches go 62g, 65g, 67g and 78g. That's 16g difference across 4 seperate switches...
Have there been any changes to the Box Jade? I remember hearing that because of the design, its reliability suffered from the lower weighted 50g spring, resulting in 'stuck' or slow switch release on the upstroke - sounded easy enough to fix with lube but I don't really want to get that involved w/ 70-110 switches lol
Nice. I've been stuck w/ outemu blues and gateron browns for so long... I've been looking into either the navy, the jade or some of those sweet sweet zelios switches... those are just so dang expensive...

KM1337I have Jades on my Planck, the only problem I had was with the space key, because it has a stabilizer it was sticking sometimes trying to push it back up, but I just mashed it a bunch of times and it works perfect now.
