how good are these? compared with cherry mx?
Compared to Cherry Blue and Green? This is a much better switch overall.
yes I use cherry blue and brown now
do they feel more like a blue or green?
On difference would be spring weights. They are roughly equivalent to the the standard Cherry weights, although I can't recall if Green was another extreme weight. Jade is light like Red/Brown/Blue, navy is heavy like Black switches.
I used to think Cherry was the highest quality, but using these, there's no way I can go back to MX blues. Cherry really stopped innovating. Sure, they will still be industry standards, but just being standard is just so average... I use pale blues btw, and just joined this drop for the navy blues.
Buying Cherry switches that aren't silent blacks (as those are amazing) or clears (since zeal's switches are so expensive these are still desirable) these days really is a waste of money - most of Gateron's lineup actually better, box switches are not only incredible but it is also much easier to work with Kaihua/Kailh and design customs like Navy/Jade, Hako/Halo and the new (pale purple) ones Mike's designing.
Cherry's move, has been for a while, they did well with the retooling for silent blacks but it's not enough to keep the enthusiast market excited. Soon they'll only have the corsair/CM/etc normies buying their stuff, which I guess is still plenty more people than we are as a hobby.
wow this is really a strong statement! I will buy both then!
Cherry has the brand name and sure, they sell extremely well for "gamer keyboards", but like you've said, their competitors are doing a great job an right now the only Cherry thing I'd buy would be their stabs and their retooled blacks.
cherry's suck, i hate how all the premium keyboards only come with cherry switch options.
