Yes. You can set the time from the app only. The price on Kickstarter was $99 for the early bird and $119 for the next tier. I really like mine and hopefully they will improve on the app. It's not as flawless and trouble-free as it should be.

Idk, I'm torn on purchasing it myself. I hear you. But that's how smart watches started in general. The pebble was the first smartwatch in the market. And then yes, samsung and many others began making more polished watches. But the pebble watches by themselves are still great, I loved mine. That small microbrand got bought out and there is no more software Support. The companies either get abandoned or bought out. But a fun watch for a few years is still worth it, I think. The nowa watch is priced as a fun watch you can wear for a while.
