Designed for ortholinear keyboards—like the Planck, Preonic, and other custom layouts—these keycaps are a subtle and clean addition to any desktop. Sculpted in your choice of DSA or XDA profile, the set is uniform in height with blank legends Read More
gimpelGot 2 homing caps with my xda set. As odd as it sound I really can't see the difference, only feel with my finger tips. I found them by coincidence. I mounted the keycaps (mixed colors) convinced that there were no homing keys included. After an hour or so of typing I decided to replace some keycaps to go completely with the beige ones.... And there suddenly i found (felt) them where they were laying in the box.
Sorry, but I have to ask. What is the purpose of a blank keyboard? I am new to the custom keyboard scene so I am a bit of a noob when it comes to these things.
dubbs117If you touch type, then having legends is not necessary. One of the struggle in the keyboard community is finding compatible keycaps for your unusual layout. Ortholinear aren't as hard to find as some other layouts, but it still can be a challenge due to modifier keysize and row position. Having blank keycaps means you don't have to worry about any of this. Another reason is that some people just prefer the looks of blank keycaps.
dubbs117just wanted to add that if you have a keyboard with multiple layers, the legend will be incomplete. you could always set them to the base layer, of course, but then the legends are useless on the other layers.
I do like this drop, but you'd wait a little less time and pay a little less (for more customization) by putting together your own set on Aliexpress where you can pick from a wide range of colors for each key! For DSA at least, XDA sets ship to next to no variety which is for sure the strength of this drop.
Here's an example of just how customizable sets can be on Aliexpress, (and I chose a conservative palette when I was thinking up what to order) (all for $17)

If you're not in a rush and these color schemes are more or less what you want (especially if you want XDA with cool accents) I do think this is a neat drop, just letting people know of what's out there if they want to push the variety in a DSA set, for the same price. For XDA this is a no-brainer though.
To clarify (based on the drop down selection) there are 4 possible combos? XDA red or blue and DSA red or blue? OR is it XDA blue and DSA red like the pictures show?
rockydbullIt is pretty clear from the order form that you can select one of four possibilities. Would be nice however to have clearly labelled pictures illustrating the difference between the two profiles. Also it would be helpful to state explicitly that these fit Cherry style switches!
JohnHindI don't think that there would be any doubt that these are for Cherry style switches and not Topre or ALPS? Their stem shape is obvious from the photos on the overview page that show the caps upturned. I mean maybe it wouldn't do any harm to mention that as well, but caps for non Cherry switches are almost always the exception not the standard anyway?
ZynskiGood question! The top is flatter, and has a larger surface area, so there are smaller gaps between keys.
Personally: I love how it looks, but find the profile too flat, and prefer more definition between cap edges. As always with switches/caps, your mileage may vary!
ZynskiIt feels a lot flatter in comparison to DSA. After a while I think I prefer XDA over DSA because of the larger surface area. They have a more "blocky" look which I also like.
