That really sucks. I got mine around the same time and the remote did not work but the unit itself is fine and sounds so good I could care less about the remote. Hopefully these Drop units are not "seconds" with lots of problems. But definately get the DOA one replaced. If you finally get one that works, I'm sure you'l be impressed.
I don't use the remote. I can send you mine. I really liked sound sound of the first unit ,when it did work. I have the chord mojo which slighty lightly better sonicly however I prefer the dac80 's wider soundstage
I just used the remote to fire it up and it works. If i turn of the power off and on, it will only turn on with the remote. Does yours turn on without the remote?
Interesting to here the comment with regard to the Mojo, which is a highly regarded DAC. Thanks for the offer of the remote but I'm only a few feet from mine and use another gaon control so don't really need one. hopefully you can get aworking unit to go wiitht he remote and sell if to someone.
Sorry for late reply. I never had any luck with my remote but unit works fine by using back power switch. As in another post, I leave mine on all the time.
The only problem, other than remote, is the old windows laptop I use in my dedicated hifi room seems to screw up driver every couple of months and I have to re-install driver. Driver works flawlessly on my newer laptop but I want to utilize my older laptop for something. I'm a cheapskate :-)
