This vs The Schiit Modi Multi bit Dac? this is about 50 dollars more if enough people join to fully unlock it. I'm going to buy the Schiit Jotunheim Amp.
Don't you need a balanced dac for jotunheim if you want to use its balanced amp?
I don't know man, before I used to think I can just buy a headphone and use it, now this "audiophile" shit got me looking at Dacs and Amps and things I had no idea existed 2 months ago.
Don't buy things you don't need. Not sure which headphones you are using, but use them off your phone or laptop directly first until you get used to the sound. Amps don't magically improve your headphones sound, dacs even less so.
You can definitely use an external DAC with the Jotunheim's balanced amp. The difference is that the optional internal DAC module has one AK4490 DAC chip per channel. Something worth mentioning is that many people find the Modi Multibit tames the perceived brightness of the Jotunheim compared to the internal DAC module. I plan to get a Jotunheim to use with my Modi Multibit soon.
I don't think you will be disappointed if you get the Modi Multibit, for $250, you can't go wrong... I currently own one and am using it with a Vali 2 amp. Sounds great. Many reviews I've read say the Modi Multibit is like a shrunken Bifrost Multibit (a $600 DAC) and is held in very high regard.
Lol thats gonna be my status man
LOL we‘ve all been there, you got me laughing so hard it made my day. Good luck with the search!
