This is a bit weak for a class A And the DAC in it looks awful. I mean, yes, 96mw/600ohm is nice for 129$ but... ~250w at 30 ohms? That's it? Doesn't support 88.2 (yes, this not common but the fact it doesn't just smells) Why is the output voltage 2.6V? That's a lot. For 129$? Mmm... Maybe (?) But I would strongly recommend you save some money and get an Aune X1S. Or perhaps just a cute DAC and a jds atom. Idk there are some combos out there. It is cute as long as you don't want to drive anything that requires power, I mean like a M50, And you feed it through another DAC. (D10, you could even A/B with a D10 because of the coax out it has)

i have the icon hd (hdp without rca and coax inputs only usb) since 2010. almost 10 years without a single issue, it has 4 burr brown 24/192 dac chips and very low distortion. burr brown makes the best sounding dacs if you like warm sound. the weak part is the preamp rca output it's too powerful . the headphone amp is too powerful for 32-70 ohms. ide recommend 100-250 ohms headphones. with my hd700 i never pass halfpoint on the volume . this heaphone amp just destroys the jds atom and many more in that price range and it's from 2009! about not enough power in 30 ohms...bullshit! ive sold my hd 465(32 ohms) because i couldn't pass 1 on the volume and got the hd 700 now i have more range and it sounds great. the cute from chord is a far superior dac for 10 times the price without a headphone amp. just ignore the preamp .as a dac and headphone amp the hdp is amazing for the price . it was a hit when it was 449$ .

"bullshit!". The specs speak. You want to say it is strong, Whatever. Yet I see the specs of the atom and the specs of this.. And guess who wins. And let me tell you something, A DAC needs to be ruler flat. Not "warm". If it makes the sound "better" than other DACs then it is poor quality. No IMD "hump", no jitter spikes.. I mean, I once saw some measurements of a device using a burr brown DAC that costs 6$/2000pcs And for that price it was awesome! Yet the even the USB interface can't even support 88.2. From what I heard the guys at nuforce design it to sound good, Not to be good. Someone measured a DAC of theirs and the jitter was so high it was among the biggest amounts of the jitter that guy ever measured.

Or just E1DA's #9038D, it does 600mw into 32 ohms Class AB, and its the size of a flash drive.

i speak from my experience with this device it's too strong for 32 ohms headphones .saying otherwise is misleading. it's a technical fact you can't argue with. try to actually listen to it before you post false claims. anyone can read the specs but i can't say it's simple. from reviews (6moons is like an ad they just love everything they test)and specs i gathered it's a great preamp. from experience i can say it's unusable(too much power no range). the headphone amp is amazing for 65 $ ,the dac is amazing for another 65$ .ive compared it to the 2019 objective 2 dac(99$) and it's much better to my opinion.

Man, alright. Something like a nice planar at would require some power and still be around <50ohm Which is okay. BTW can't find any specs about your 465's? How sensitive are they?

ive also owned the icon hdp for 10+ years, and I’ve been very happy with it both as a dac and a headphone amp, but I’ve never used it with 32 ohm headphones. It’s got 10 ohm output impedance, so its really not intended for them. Paired with my Shure SRH-1840s, the combo is magical. I did find I got better dynamics when I switched out the power supply to a TeraDak lps. what makes you say it’s a $65 dac and a $65 headamp? What are you comparing it to? There are plenty of expensive headamps on the market with high output impedance. I don’t think the fact that it doesn’t match well with your 32 ohm cans is itself a basis for passing that judgement.

you didn't understand my point, let me try again: for 130 it's like paying 65 for the dac and 65 for the headpphone amp (130/2)since the preamp is useless. i think it's a great deal at 130!

also it combines the best with the flattest most boring headphones and makes them come alive since it's so juicy and powerfull with the hd700 after some mods (customcans copper cable dekoni leather pads dc purifier usb purifier )it works for me.
