Yeah, I have to agree with the sentiment that these are decent sounding headphones with some nice features, but they are a bit more "form" than "function." First, let me preface this by saying that I am not a bass-head. I prefer a pretty flat profile, so I don't get much out of the "immersive mode" (feeling my head shake doesn't improve my listening experience). Achieving a proper profile on these took me 3 or 4 tries (part of me questions the whole premise of EQ-ing drivers to suit the shape of your inner-ear) but once I had, these sounded decent for a noise isolating, closed backed headphone. But only decent. Admittedly, I don't currently own any other noise isolating headphones, so these comparisons may not be completely fair, but... After extensive A/B-ing against a pair of M220s, I honestly think I get better definition and soundstage out of the M220s. I feel that I really notice some of the weird frequency manipulation that is happening with the nuraphones when doing this comparison. I'm probably hyper sensitive to it, but I don't want a variable EQ sitting between me and my sound source. For fun, I compared these against a pair of monk earbuds as well ( - and again, not a fair comparison), but in a quiet environment, I'd say the Monks perform almost identically from the low-mids upwards. They are also far more comfortable and 1/50th of the price. Finally, a comparison against a pair of k550s was probably my most fair. For me, it is no contest. The K550s absolutely decimate these things across the entire spectrum. In a super noisy environment, the extra isolation on the nuraphones may be nice, but it would have to be quite noisy, and I would need to be listening to some pretty reserved material to make the switch worth it. So, if you really need active noise isolation, these might be an option, but if you just want something closed backed, I'd opt for k550s or HD598s. Bass heads may have a slightly different perspective, but I would have to imagine there are better options out there.
