I concur with Juffo. It's a giant hunk of metal, weighty and substantial. I got mine preassembled with box switches. Worked right out of the box. QMK is a bit hit or miss for me, as I've used it successfully in the past, but I also bricked a board once for reasons no one could properly troubleshoot. So out of the box was worth it to avoid worries.
The bezel's a little thick for my taste, but that's personal preference. It's also a little weird that it has LEDs with no aperture for underglow. I just turned them off. Other than that, it's as advertised, a lot of keyboard for the money, unless you're going bananas with caps, as I did. But then again, you were going to do that anyway, right?

I just joined the /Dev/MT3 cap drop and assembled mine much like yours, but where did you get the 1x1 CTRL, ALT, and FN keys just to the right of the spacebar? My kit didn't come with them! :(

loercaseThe first two runs of the MT3 offered several additional sets of keycap addons. I've actually been messaging Matteo (designer of the MT3 set) and he said they will be doing another full set run of the MT3's sometime early next year. So grab any keys your missing then and any extras you may want! Alternatively, since I don't know what you ordered, the MT3 drop you bought in on may have offered those keys in one of the more basic addons but you just weren't aware of it! Figure it out and try posting around on the drop, you may be able to swap keys, etc. You could also try messaging Matteo

I finally got around to building this a few days ago. It's such great value for the money you spend. I thought that since it was only $100, there would possibly be some quality control issues. This was not the case for me. The case is solid, hefty, great feeling aluminum, the plate looks sleek and nice, and the PCB is working great. I love that it's fully programmable, although I would like to point out that QMK can probably be kind of intimidating if you don't have a huge technical background. The only small quality related issue I found is that there is a little bit of wiggle room when you put the plate inside of the case. However, this doesn't really mater at all because you just screw the plate it in, so there's no wiggle. A couple things I learned that people might want to know:
  • When programming the keyboard with QMK, I'd use the Melody96 as reference, as it appears to be the same exact layout (there wasn't an entry for the NYM96 at the time of writing this review)
  • In order to screw the plate into the case, you have to remove the small rubber things from the screw holes (may seem obvious, but I didn't know what those rubber things were at first)
  • By default, my keyboard was flashed without the function key mapped. So keep that in mind.
Overall I'm really happy with the purchase. It seems like you get a really high quality keyboard at a price point I haven't seen anywhere else. This is gonna be my main keyboard for a while.

DadropheniaAlso built my board a few days ago. Interesting thing about the rubber feet that prevent you from being able to screw in the plate...In my kit only one of the threaded holes had the rubber insert. I couldn't figure out why one screw wouldn't go in. That seems to be the only inconsistency. Otherwise ZERO complaints. This is a wonderful board. I'm typing this whole paragraph on it :] I bought another in black.

Good value of money
Overall I'm very satisfied with this keyboard. However there are still some negative aspects that doesn't let me give five stars. The packaging isn't very good. My box was dropped somewhere (during delivery?) and the corner of case has quite a big damage. Also I'm not very satisfied with included switches (MX brown). Not even sure if they are genuine as the caps don't fit as well as to my second keyboard. I even broke one key and opened switch when removed keycap. Based on how hard was it to push caps on the keys, I'm quite sure that removing caps will open many switches, if not break them. Can't believe that Cherry's tolerance is so bad. Also most of them had strongly bent pins. Not a big problem however but looked like some sort of low quality batch. Included screws are not magnetic and it is quite tricky to insert them without loosing them between PCB and switch plate. USB-C socket is not supported well and based on other reviews it could easily break. I'll try to be careful and not move cable too much. Positive is the PCB design. It can be easily customized, support ISO layout (which is generally not available). RGB backlight is not visible and is useless with this case. Removing it from firmware gives some memory for other features. I used QMK Melody96 settings with my own keymap and it works as intended. I'm not sure if there are separate LEDs for CapsLock and NumLock as I don't need any of them.

It's a fantastic bit of kit really. A very reasonable price, and it comes with that hefty case, I like it. Even tho there was only one colour available, it's a nice and neutral colour. I'd add a couple more attachement points to the plate honestly,(mainly the left and right lower corners) some areas makes switches sound different. I build mine with: GMK screw in stabs clipped and lubed (didn't came with the kit, the included one's were pre installed. Pretty nice if they weren't crap. Kailh pro heavy sage foam padding added to the bottom of the case SP SA Lime I went with a slightly different layout than it came with, thanks to it's QMK support, this wasn't all that hard to do in the end. USB type C is a fantastic addon It does have underlighting on the PCB (pretty useless in this case, the case is a solid lump of milled alu) for a 100 bucks, you get a lot. Definitely a great buy, and I do enjoy it greatly!

IronSunsetscalesHi there! I know this is 2 years old but I've recently received mine from the most recent drop and was wondering what type of foam you used in the bottom of the case. I was wondering if it this would benefit from some foam but I'm pretty new so I didn't know what kind or where to find it. Any info is greatly appreciated!
Warlock983Hey there! This post might be 2 years old, but I do have the board still! I remember I used to use packing foam for this. The thin stuff on sheets, you can buy it on rolls. Makes it nice and easy to cut out and lay it down in the case. These days, I'd recommend something else, shelf liner does a better job, and so does felt pads work really well. Both are easy enough to work with as well. As for foam in between the PCB and plate, you can buy this now on ali (other options are available) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001285166268.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.20623c00yDzJmM&mp=1 Have fun with your NYM, it's a nice bit of kit, very customizable and hefty!

Great board with terrible stabilizers
Rattle wobble city =/ update: hasn't even been a month and the "c" "v" and "b" keys are dead. This thing is just garbage. Stay away.

The first one I've ever built
Got this keyboard kit after missing the feel of having a number pad on my 65% (I think) E-element Z88 keyboard from amazon. Although it came slightly beat up in the mail, (almost) everything inside was intact and not damaged. They did a really nice job of packing the materials inside with bubble wrap in order to prevent damage. Only 1 stabilizer came broken but there was an extra one that came with the kit so that took care of itself. The aluminum case is heavy and beautiful. Had a great time building this keyboard for which I also had to learn how to solder (win-win). I have not changed the PCB configuration at all and it is working fine for me.

Good board but packaging flawed
My board came in a thin cardboard box with minimal protection. The box was crushed when it arrived. Opening the box I discovered two dents in the case and half of the stabilizers had been ripped out of the PCB and were damaged. Why they were mounted in the first place I have no idea. The PCB itself is fine and everything is working as of right now. The switches were fine although a few of the pins were extremely bent. All in all, I’m happy with the board for the price I paid. Massdrop displayed wonderful post-purchase support and responded very quickly!

cijanzenI would tend to agree, about the packaging. My case was ok, but the box had definitely taken a beating. It's just really, really heavy and, as such, needs a good deal of structure around it.

cijanzenMine also has some small dents exactly like yours in exactly the same places. I'm pretty sure they're from transport damage. The keyboard should be packed in a bit better at the corners.

Heavy duty case with PCB problems
Yesterday, my numpad enter key began acting as if it were stuck and manually unusable. Today, the same issue popped up with the right arrow key. Idk if this is a soldering problem (me) or a software issue (the manufacturer) but I'll update the stars if the issue is fixable but so far it looks like I'm SOL on using this keyboard. Aside from that the casing is great quality. The cable is only 3 feet so it's a bit short, but easily replacable. The Type-C slot is massive given the size of the actual port. Also beware of the awk keycap sizes you'll need to find. Also there's a few red LED's on the underside of the PCB for some reason. They don't evenly cover the PCB so it's like the bottom half of my keyboard is backlit and the top portion is dark. E: I tried de-soldering the keycaps that were "stuck" and replacing with new ones -- the same issue still persisted, so I believe this is a manufacturer issue. E2: bought a new PCB from the source but de-soldering all the switches is a massive pain, even with all the right tools. All-in-all this is an unpleasant and unfortunate experience D=

Fantastic until some time passed.
Initially I was impressed with the heft and feel of this thing. In fact, I still am. I unfortunately have to give it 1 stars ultimately however because there is a glaring flaw with the USB-C port hole. It's huge and doesn't support the USB-C port. The USB-C port sits on the under side of the PCB, and unfortunately the only thing attaching this port to the PCB is some weak pins and soldering points. Overtime, since the USB-C port is not supported by the case itself, the weight of a USB cable WILL 100% of the time break the USB-C port from the PCB, eventually. Repairing the USB-C port if severed from the PCB is not and easy soldering job like soldering keyboard switches is.

Hi. Glad I could help. That fix sounds like it would have helped, thanks for that. I ended up buying a replacement PCB. I haven't had the opportunity to put it in yet, but for some additional support, next time I am going to use some epoxy and apply it underneath and around the USB-C port. I think I will try to fit something in there to support it more as well.

fdiskDid you get the new hot swap pcb? The second one I bought I decided to get the hot swap for $45, since it was only about $10 more. Good luck on your build

Great keyboard for value, but you get what you pay for
I bought this preassembled with Gateron Yellows. They're a bit scratchy so they should probably be lubed; I should have thought of that first, so you should probably assemble this yourself. That might also take care of the terrible stabilizer rattle the pre-assembled has. Pros: Price, weight (solid!), condensed form factor, moddability. Cons: Some QC issues (came with a small dent in one corner and a scratch in another - maybe transport damage?), very short cable, very heavy keyboard, very rattly spacebar/backspace/shift and other stabilized keys, and it doesn't come with keycaps (ignore the photos!). Overall good, but definitely not as nice a board as my Massdrop ALT. I definitely will be rebuilding it to lube the keys and band-aid mod the stabilizers, after that it should be good to go. Edit: I just want to mention I have the same intermittent connection dropout issues as a few other buyers. I will update if I figure out how to fix it, but for now I would not recommend this keyboard.
