I steer clear of anything made by Luxottica at this point. Overpriced and the quality is never as good after they take over a brand. I stick mainly with pre 1999 Ray Bans with Bausch & Lomb lenses.
" XYZ Optics and High-Definition Optics technologies help you see more depth, definition, and detail. " I especially hate when any company describes their lenses as "High-Definition" . How could the sunglasses possible help me see more detail....

apaezDepending on the tint you get they make certain other colours pop.

YearZer0I see what you are saying but I still think the use of high-definition is misleading and wrong. I have several such sunglasses in my collection such as the B&L B15, kalichrome, and RB3 lenses. Those were always advertised similarly to how you said it with an emphasis being given to certain colors and not the ability to see " more depth, definition, and detail. " It would make no sense to apply a filter to a picture and then say it is "Hi-Definition" compared to the original.

apaezIf one is looking for new sunglasses, do you have a recommendation? E.g. for sports and outdoor, not fashion lenses.

aleclSince I am an avid B&L rayban enthusiast that would always be my first recommendation. Good used pairs of aviators or wayfarers with only micro scratches and nothing deep can be had for 50-100 on ebay (New old stock can be in the 160+ range). The G15 lens is probably the best for general outdoor, and pair that with cable temples and they will not go anywhere. B&L Ray Bans are always glass lenses instead of the plastic that is used now. I personally prefer glass as it seems to resist scratches but they will be heavier.
If you are look for brand new I would check out either Costa del Mar or Maui Jim. Both are some of the last independently owned sunglasses manufacturers. I would recommend looking for green or gray lenses as those will be the best all around for outdoor use. Polarized is good but will distort phone screens. You get what you pay for so expect the price to be ~200 for these but they will last a long time if cared for.

apaezThanks for that good answer. I was leaning towards spending the loot for some Maui's, I think I will now.

apaezI second the Maui Jims, those are my go to Brand. Albeit for outdoors/sports, I've always leaned Oakley they're cheaper but that's almost exactly why. The tough plastic will take a beating and overall are very secure.

apaezThis is my current sports pair: http://www.vintagesunglassesshop.com/item_vs644.html
A bit over the top but the coating on the rear of the lens removes almost all background reflection. As a reference I managed to snag these in mint condition for ~95. I am also confident I am the only one sporting the shades within at least 100 miles :)
