Not all microbrands are wonderful, but some, like this Oceaneva are exemplary to a point that has to be seen to be believed. -Excerpt from full review set to publish end of June 2019 on https://microbrandwatchworld.com/

OceanevaSimple question: does the vendor or MD claim ISO 6425:2018 certification?

asifyoucaredFor the record we are aware that "asifyoucared" "rayF" and "midnightrider" are all the same person. Having not owned an Oceaneva watch, he has continued for 3 days to speak negatively of and sometimes make blatantly false statements, to the point of having a moderator to chime in and comments being hidden. We will answer the question for those actual potential buyers that may be interested in purchasing but knowing by responding to the question it will likely generate a negative response by this individual no matter what the answer is.  Answer: Neither is claiming ISO 6425 certification. 1000M rating on a watch is not the same as ISO 6425 certification. ISO 6425 is a separate certification which a manufacture can pay extra to get if they choose. Most dive watches sold are NOT ISO "certified", but many are ISO "compliant" meaning the have all the things ISO requires to get certified but have not had them sent off and actually certified ISO6425. Even if a watch has all specifications to be ISO 6425 certified that cannot be stated unless you pay to send the watches off for certification. We are actually looking into it as, according to our manufacturer, we have all the specifications to do so. But we feel taking that action may cause us to have to increase prices to the consumer which we are not looking to do. This design has been tested by the manuafcture at 1000M pressures and we are confident it will hold up to such anyone choose to put it to the test.

Oceaneva My "negative comments" (from your point of view) have been centered on three points:
  1. is this watch worth the price shown?
  2. are the claims made about the watch factual or opinions?
  3. and most importantly, do Members have the right to question claims, ask for proof of those claims, and express opinions?
As to the first, watches on this drop are listed on your site for $1,049, marked down to $999, yet offered here for $480. We like deals, but was a $480 watch ever worth $999? Claiming the watch is the best watch money can buy, to a community familiar with many watches, is insulting, and obviously not a factual statement. And regarding the third point, I have NEVER seen so much obfuscation and censorship on any other drop. Regardless of why, or your stake in the matter, I have lost considerable faith in Massdrop/Drop because of the experience. Now, as to your rational about the ISO certification, obviously you're under no obligation to get it, but to claim the watch has 1000m resistance without that ISO, makes your statement a "claim", rather than a "fact." Additionally, to state the reason for not pursuing ISO certification is an effort to keep the price down on a watch you also claim to have sold for $1,049, $999 or even $480 also sounds disingenuous. And finally, since you've now made it clear you are not the manufacturer of the watch, shouldn't the actual manufacturer have already obtained that cert, before they made that claim to you?

RayFWe will leave it at this   The watch is a quality product with excellent specifications and a beyond reasonable price. We have sent and sold it to many seasoned watch buying individuals who back up our stance. Their opinions are not influenced by us, they speak for themselves. All the people who own our watch have seen in person that the specifications match what we have advertised.    If your personal belief is that it does not have that value then by all means don't purchase it. But posting things saying the watch can be made for $66, calling our company watch peddlers, and out right saying we are trying to rip people off is not asking questions of the value, it is purposefully putting doubt in the minds of potential buyers. It is also outright false and defamatory. It also makes you look like you have an ulterior motive as to why you would go to such lengths to speak negatively about this particular brand constantly for 3 days.    The sale being run with this product is not an uncommon thing for watches. So unless you question the value of EVERY watch brand when they sell their product lower than the retail value, it again it seems strange that you would do it to us.    We do not own our own factory, most watch brands do not, including many well known brands. That does not diminish the quality of the product. Also, it is perfectly acceptable and common practice to make claims about the depth rating of a watch without having an ISO 6425:2018 certification. It has been pressure tested by to 1000M and we stand behind it's ability to hold up in those conditions. But again, unless you publicly and vehemently question EVERY brand that does not have an ISO 6425:2018 certification on their watch it shows a clear bias that you would do it to ours.   Our brand being new, you are very aware that doing what you are doing can cause undeserved damage to our brand. But we absolutely 100% believe in the quality and value of our product and have all the confidence that the costumers that actually purchase the watch with be very impressed. The reviews we've had so far do just that. And we are open to any HONEST question a potential buyer might have.

Oceaneva Well let's just say we're going to agree to disagree about the watches, and the way you choose to market them. Despite your efforts to burry my comments, I think most folks got the gist of what I was saying: buyer beware--and that applies to every MD drop, not just yours. Good luck with your watches and the drop, and I'll certainly be interested to see what you come up with next time around.

Smadams19 Yet another "member" with only this post to their name, yet fawning all over a watch and vendor everyone else is running away from as fast as they can. You seriously don't think we know a shill when we see one?

Smadams19 Not surprised by that at all--I imagine all the employees get 'em at cost--say, about twenty bucks each? Or did you purchase yours at the going out of business sale? You'd have to be hooked up with the flake who makes buys them from the factory in China (that makes dozens of other "kit-watches"). NO ONE, not even a fan-boy like you, would be dumb enough to purchase ten, over-priced, over-hyped, ugly damn watches at full "retail!!!"
