Granted, I am new to the fountain pen world, I have a good impression of these pens. I have had quill-dippin pens, and of course these are much easier to use. Fountain pens definitely show the importance of the paper used. Wide-grained paper that is very absorbent will result with a wider, and sometimes messier line, while a dense, smooth paper will give you a fine line and satisfying, gliding experience. If left for more than a week without use, I recommend swirling the tip around on some scratch paper to ensure a ready and constant flow of ink. Long states of disuse can result in dry fire. I have smaller hands, so I feel more nimble without the cap on while writing. I also receive the same experience as others that state that the main downside is the re-capping of the pen, which has to be done more carefully than a regular ball-point pen, otherwise a jam can happen. I have become more careful and more precise with my writing as a result of using these pens. They seem to be of good quality and ideal for daily use.
