I just have to say that I am extremely pleased with this light. The beam is precise and throws forever, the claims of a kilometer of throw does not seem outlandish (on the highest setting of course). Then there's the beam, sure the main focus is unbelievably bright, but there's also a good flood effect around the beam.
The idea of the a diffuser is interesting to me and I may try that in the future, but I really truly bought this for the ability to throw a spot. I also have to say I really haven't noticed anything about the tint that I find unpleasant, if it's shaded toward green I hardly notice.

Good info and pics on the tint issue. I am glad that Guvnor pointed out what the situation was on this light rather than me having to go find and reread the original material that I had read months ago and subsequent followup from O-light.
I really don't like a greenish tint but I don't mind the yellowish tint of the warmer Cree bins and find that it really improves the outdoors at night.....especially with browns, greens and reds such as when looking at a dirt path grass, flower garden, etc.
I am always happy to be corrected if my initial assumptions were wrong as that way I am in possession of the true data and my initial comment on tint was based on what I had initially read from a respectable source.
No disrespect to Book was intended and without Guvnor's explanation I would have been off to read through the link that Book posted - which I will do later - hung over Saturday morning for me - no bright lights are going to be appreciated right now ; ) but I'm glad I learned something new about this light and will have to do more reading later on it and maybe wait for another drop where this issue has been resolved.
Perhaps O-light and Massdrop could clarify the situation on the emitters for this light as I really do love the light and price point but with all the nice flashlights I own I could certainly wait for the update when it arrives.

Potential buyers: Be aware of that the dedomed emitter will show very visible tint shift towards yellowish green. It's not clear that the flashlight on this drop is with a dedomed XP-L or a XP-L High Intensity. When I was considering buying one of M3XS-UT it was equipped with a dedomed XP-L. That's why I purchased SR52UT which used a XP-L HI with more definite 'white' over this one despite of the more powerful throw.

The LED/beam tint on the M3XS was a weird situation.
When the light came out, it was advertised as having XP-L HI - CREE's own dedomed LED equivalent that has a flat dome to increase throw, but keep the original tint. As it turned out, the first few batches seemed to be using XP-L HD which Olight dedomed, which has the more yellow with a slight bit of green tint as seen on the pic book posted.
My opinion on the dedomed tint is that I don't really mind it... maybe because I don't use this light indoors. The slight green is only noticeable on a white wall and just looks like a typical warm tint when outside. Also when I'm using it with a diffuser it looks like a regular warm tint as well(as seen on my earlier pic).
Olight's comment on the situation was that they will switch to XP-L HI as soon as their initial stock of dedomed XP-L HD lights were gone. Whether that switch has actually happened now/for this drop, I'm not sure.

would this diffuser make this a good camping light?

elvi679Hard to speak for everyone, but it's my main large light now with a diffuser.
I took mine into the woods multiple times and I like how a diffuser protects the lens. I tried some 4x18650 lights but they were too heavy for me and impossible to find a diffuser for. Having the diffused beam for 90% of the time then being able to switch to its regular focused beam to check for animals in the distance and such is great.

I literally just purchased one of these independently of massdrop. It's a really fantastic toy, but only useful for a situation where you need a very bright spotlight. A little too big, and too focused a beam for any sort of useful carry.

poopderpI did too a few weeks ago. Its an amazing light if you want throw and low spill. 2x 18650 3400s and it runs a good long while.
