Oly is selling these OM5s for the same price factory direct and warranty (refurbs). Are the cameras in this drop BNIB? Or are they refurb/openbox (didn't see anything in the product description)?

I purchased this body from an earlier Massdrop offering and it is most excellent. Vivd and detailed pictures and built very tough. Olympus and Panasonic have excellent m4/3rds lenses and at excellent prices compared to other offerings such as from Canon and Sony.
I believe this is one model down from the top of the Olympus line at this time and I'm very pleased.

I would rather just get the M10 MKII
BrannyDid they ever release a Mk III? I certainly don’t feel I need a higher resolution Sensor, 8 MP gave me pretty great enlargements in the past. Noise and dynamic range, quality of the EVF/lag, those kinds of things could be improved, but not much more is needed.
Which is too bad for Olympus, not much more practical upgrades left to get excited about being all shiny and new, but I still think the micro 4/3rds format is still hella exciting, the lenses way sharp and short physically, and the camera bodies also nice and compact without being ergo nightmares. I look at DSLRs, and think with a kind of sadness “How are they going to compete with the convenience of smartphone cameras?” Micro 4/3rds IMO has the right advantages of DSLRs (and rangefinders) without straying too far from the convenience of smartphones.

Add the 14~42 pancake zoom lens and you've got a nice kit here for the price (of both).

I've been thinking about getting this camera and watching it for a while so I know that, you can get this same exact camera WITH A 14-42 mm LENS from amazon prime for $30 less than the final price. Also the amazon price is about $50 higher than I have seen it.

Hi I wonder how warranty works in Europe? Is anyone tried to use warranty in that case?
regards
antantThis is listed as international spec, therefore not a US warranty... you might be in luck, haha! It’s probably a model from Japan though. I think you would first contact Massdrop about warranty, else you might still get warranty from Olympus but have to mail it far for service.
All that said... I have had 3 Olympus camera bodies over 13 years, and never needed warranty service (or sensor cleaning, NICE!). Just sharing one guy’s experience/confidence.

antantI ask Polish Olympus Service about warranty for their products imported from the USA. They answer that since 2014 they don't offer international warranty, only continent warranty :(

Awesome camera. Had the first one, replaced it with a used Mark II, which drowned... and got replaced with yet another Mark II!

I paid twice this when it came out.
Excellent, dense camera. Far more feature rich than the Canon DSLRs I've owned. I can put a m43 prime lens on this camera and put it in a jacket pocket--last time I could do that with an interchangeable lens camera it was a film rangefinder.
Biggest surprise joy: handheld fireworks photos that look amazing. Biggest letdown: can't calibrate lenses. Other: so, so many settings--if you like dungeon crawlers without automaps you will be so very insufferably happy.
