Really need to know if Massdrop counts as an authorized reseller. My current onkyo just lost all sound, and onkyo remedy for this ( as it is out of warranty) is to offer a mail in rebate if I purchase a new receiver from a list ..all 3 of these are on the list. The additional functions of these receivers would make the hassles worth it.

CarypearsonMy old Onkyo Dolby also loses sound sometimes, but rap on front comes back, loose connection there to be fixed. Have been pleased with Onkyo overall, as this is quite old unit. Clearly these Massdrop units are major upgrades.

scifiguy Upgrades, I beg to differ. Lift your old receiver now lift the newer units. My older Onkyo receiver ways over 80lbs. In case you haven't noticed manufactures are skimping on things like the power supply. My older Onkyo receiver has a massive toroidal power supply. Just one of the things that makes it so much heavier. My older Onkyo is THX Ultra (not THX Select) certified. In order to give customers all of the new audio formats like Dolby Atmos, and DTS++ and video enhancements like Dolby Vision, manufacturers have been skimping on things like a high quality power supply, and minor things like an A.C. Outlet on the back of their units. How many people still use component inputs anymore? Component inputs are analog and their color is over saturated. I purchased two of the newest flagship receivers on the market...Onkyo and Yamaha because I wanted Dolby Atmos, and DTS++. I returned both of them because they couldn't hold a candle to my older Onkyo receiver. One last thing, Onkyo’s customer service SUX!!! The only reason I continue to purchase Onkyo merchandise is because I haven’t found anything that sounds as good imho. ONKYO...get rid of features that most customers will never use, and put a better power supply back in your receivers!

VitalTotally agree with Vital - I'm on my 3rd or 4th Onkyo in 15 years - each purchased to 'upgrade'. Each one gets lighter. That said, other than one 'under warranty' issue, they've been reliable and FOR THE MONEY offer good quality. There's much better to be had, for way more money than I am prepared to spend in the compromised acoustic environment of my family room - no home theater room :(
