A 7.2-channel network AV receiver with all the latest and greatest features, the Onkyo TX-NR646 delivers powerful, dynamic sound for movies and music alike. Because the 646 is HDCP 2.2 compliant, you won’t have any issues when 4K Ultra-HD material is more abundant. Finally, Onkyo’s slick remote app allows you to control basic functions using your iOS and Android devices.
Powerful Sound, Connections Aplenty
Rated at 170 watts, the 646 has no shortage of power, and uses a high-grade AK4458 DAC to offer some really impressive music playback for the price. This receiver decodes a wide range of high-res, lossless, and compressed audio files, including MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, OggVorbis, AAC, Apple Lossless, and DSD 5.6 MHz. And of course, it comes packed with the connectivity options we’ve come to expect from Onkyo. Along with eight HDMI inputs and two outputs, you’ll find seven analog connections (including a phono input), three digital inputs, and two composites—plus powered zone 2 outputs and zone 2 line-outs for multi-room setups.
