Umm, Onkyo USA sent me an upgrade email at this price direct today ... of course they claim an MSRP of 649 not 449 ...
(We still need a way to flag - Price Suspect items to save having to read the comments to know the price is not great/good)
I am optimistic, and I've written the kind of algorithms and scoring systems it would take to detect trolls and to allow community voting to self-manage. That of course does not deal with a strategic attempt to undermine the system - which may or may not be a legitimate concern.
The issue is that when someone buys from MD and later finds out they didn't get a bargain, they are very likely to not return. But as you say, if overall it is working for MD - why bother improving it.
MasserdonI think there's room for improvement, but I also think that it's not a fantastic idea to jump in with some idea that seems great from the end user's perspective without considering all the angles. Massdrop doesn't just have a relationship with us, the customers, they also have relationships with their vendors that choose to sell on their platform. They're not gonna wanna work with Massdrop anymore if the community just comes around votebombing them for kicks. I mean, honestly, we had a Macbook show up on here once, how do you think that product would fare against a community that can arbitrarily "down vote" a product? Especially with how the PC community tends to behave on here. I'd like to say "no offense" but some of the folks here are downright barbaric. Not a good look for Massdrop.
