A poly 7 set is typically needed for Roleplaying players (Dungeons and Dragons mostly).
Magic players can make use of this set in most cases and it doubles for DnD which can be an inevitable part of the Magic experience (like a gateway so to speak).
Some magic players prefer sets of D6s but some prefer these.
Liking the looks of the dice is a higher level priority I think...
If you think the recipient will like the look then the set is worth it.
