Opus #1 MQS Portable Player

I've been using this player for a couple of years now. After installing all of the firmware updates, it has performed flawlessly for me. One big inaccuracy in the description, however: there is no way in heaven or hell this thing is going to give you 10 hours of playtime on 1 battery charge. More like 3 to 4 hours, at least if you're playing flacs. Perhaps one of the most notable attributes of this player is its 2 SD card slots. I have a 400 GB card installed in one of them and it works beautifully. Now I can only wait and hope that this player is offered at least one more time, because I will definitely pick one up as a backup to my current unit. It's that good.

This is a great sounding DAP, but based on my experience and reading others', The Bit do not respond to email or warranty requests anymore, they are basically closed down, so Drop need to provide a warranty

Yes, I agree with you on the limited options in this price range. For my own ears I find the a55 is too clean. I’m not sure why but it was hard to listen to. The a45 I would say warmer and easier to listen to vs. the a55. I’ve decided to take the risk and go for the Opus #1 here on Drop. It also has a 10 band EQ vs. Sony 5 band EQ. I don’t know why but both a45 and a55 requires creating a database every time you power up. A55 seemed to take even longer. I love the Sony’s build and GUI. That I will miss but it really comes down to the sound. I’ve been looking for that wider sound stage, better imaging DAP but just can’t convince myself anything over $250. If you are not too critical and looking for specific sound quality, the a45 is great for the price.
