Never heard of 2.5 years being considered "ancient". If it wasn't older you wouldn't be getting it for $725. That is a 45% discount as they actually sold this player at 1299 for quite some time. Over the last 6-9 months MusicTek has sold it for 999 "on sale". Appears they are about to release a new flagship, hence the heavy discount. This is still some long time reviewers favorite DAP for sound quality alone (sub $1500). This was a locked Android device at release, I've not seen any mention of the FW unlocked version being available. If streams are you primary concern I would go with a LG V series phone instead.

I try not to measure something's value or worth based on the sellers price. I could try to sell you $5 shoes for $1000. But that doesn't mean they are worth $1000. 😳😅

Value is assigned by the consumer, not the seller. Price is determined by the seller, my entire point was that the product life cycle influences the sales price. Unlike a lot of "MSRP" this unit was actually sold with zero discount for a long period. This is often the case with flagship products during the initial stage of the life cycle. If the consumer assigns a value that is equal to or greater than the sales prices they will purchase from that seller. Also that calling a 2.5 year old product ancient is a bit dramatic and unfounded in reality.
