Good Quality
A good 6-size nib carrier. Additional transparent feeder make it prefect.

Large Pen with a large ink capacity
Although the pen is large I didn't find it hard to use. The acrylic styling makes it turn a lot of head and really shows off the ink. In terms of writing, it isn't my smoothest pen but it writes extremely well. If you are using a ink with glitter or flake beware that it often caused stoppage with my pen. Still a great overall experience!

A Huge pen, fit for large hands.
This is a really big pen - bigger, say, than the Montblanc 149. If your hands are large, like mine, it would be a good choice: the ink capacity is very large, as this is an eyedropper, and the big nib is fairly smooth.

I've wanted this pen since I first saw it online a few years ago. I had been saving up and hoping to buy one at either the Philadelphia Pen Show or the Long Island Pen Show, but have always ended up spending to much to consider this pen. I'm glad it showed up here on Mass/Drop. I love collecting demonstrators. It's a nice weight and a nice width. I don't know if it's because I have large hands, but skinny pens make my hands cramp up, so this is a nice size. The nib is smooth, though not very flexible. And best of all, no burping as an eye-dropper. It's a nice pen that I hope will last because I think it's acrylic/plastic --I just hope it doesn't crack as it ages.

First of all, I like the pen. But to be clear, I like it now that I’ve fixed it. When I first inked and wrote with the pen it was smooth drawing a horizontal line from left to right, and super toothy and noisy going the opposite direction. Looking through the loupe, it was easy to see that the left tine was significantly higher than the right - hence the tooth and the noise. I adjusted the tines, then re-shaped the writing pad, and finished the polish with .3 Mylar. It’s a perfect writer now. Unbelievably smooth, but if I didn’t know how to tune nibs, I’d return the pen. It was horrible out of the box and should have failed inspection. My only other knock is that the cap really should have coarser threads. 3.5 turns to remove the cap is waaaay too much. On the plus side, it looks great, feels great and the ink shutoff seems to be as good as TWSBI has achieved with their Vac 700R and Vac-Mini. As a frequent traveler, I appreciate that. If you’re comfortable with tuning your nib, you’ll love this pen. If not, your mileage may vary.

This is my favorite pen to date in my collection. I find the heft and size perfect for me - I always use a "fat heavy pen". I love the beauty and simplicity of the design and functionality. The broad nib is perfect, writes smoothly, I am using Levenger, Amythest ink. I love the volume of ink that this pen holds, and like the eyedropper option for filling it. I do see some leakage into the threads of the valve however. I have been using this pen every day, and find it beautiful to write with. I am looking forward to another drop so that I can get more colors! you will also note a little ink leakage in the cap, but that's user error from not closing the valve. It rises out nicely. I am a left handed user.

Make no mistake, this is a very large bodied pen. Even though it doesn't post, for larger hands, it rests well in the hand, and has a bit of heft when loaded with ink. The nib is very pleasant and glides evenly across the page. I tested it with Diamine Grape ink on Mead Black & Red, Clairfontaine Mon Essentiel, and a generic notebook with heavier stock (e.g. not a composition book). The only thing to be aware of with this pen is the slight "learning curve" with finding the right balance in opening the piston for extended writing sessions. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and heartily would suggest it for those who don't have an-eyedropper pen.

The pen material is pleasant to the touch, and it's not too gaudy. This isn't an attempt to make a 'desk pen' or a 'cigar pen'. This is like getting one of those really big crayons as a kid, and it's just as fun. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite pens.

Please Massdrop, I am in love and need all the pretty colors, bring this drop back!!! This pen is gorgeous and writes smooth as butta out of the box (M #6 Jowo nib, whats not to love)! I've had my clear demonstrator for about 4 months; purchased from the last drop of these before the new colors came out. It still continues to perform flawlessly with daily use. The design is tight and visual aesthetic is on point for me. There is only one change that would improve the beauty & functionality of this pen, fewer threads (clip, cap, knob), otherwise it is absolutely perfect!

I received my Opus 88 Demonstrator about a week ago. I was going to wait a while before writing a review, but then today I received an e-mail about the drop for the Opus 88 Koloro pen, so I decided to post my initial impressions of the Demonstrator. It is a big pen. It is the same length as two of my three "high end" pens, and slightly longer than the third, but the barrel is visibly larger in diameter than the other three pens. It is comfortable to hold and write with - the barrel is just fatter, but the grip is pretty much the same size of my other pens - but it is a bit longer - but not an issue. Again, it is comfortable to hold and write with. I ordered the gray color with a broad nib. The color, to me, is more of a blue/black/ very dark gray, but it is still a nice color, somewhat darker than I expected, but I can see the ink level - and my ink staining concerns are 'obliterated' by the dark gray. I like the broad nib. (I got this to replace an inexpensive Chinese broad nib pen I have that I recently broke.) I am using Orangics Studio "Nitrogen" ink, diluted to 50% with distilled water, and it has nice flow. I have to scribble quickly to run into skipping problems. I don't think there will be any flow problems with the way that I envision using this pen. So far this pen is everything I would have hoped for! What would I change? It would be nice to have a gold nib. (Stupid, unnecessary additional expense - but it would be nice!). The cap can't be posted. I am pretty sure I knew that when I placed the order, and it isn't an issue, but there is no denying the pen is going to want to roll away if I put it down 'carelessly'. There are lots of threads in unscrewing the cap, before I can use the pen - but the nice thing is that this pen is NOT going to 'escape' from its cap and leak all over my shirt pocket or carrying pouch. In the limited time that I have had the pen I haven't seen any issues with ink leaking into the threads (on either end of the pen body). If I had it to do over again (I know, I do have the option to buy another pen!), I think I would go with a clear body. I like inks for their colors - and they are well hidden by the gray body. That would be the the only change if I did a do over. I don't think, for what I wanted from this pen, that the Koloro pen drop would have sufficed. Whilst the Koloro is noticeably cheaper than my Demonstrator, I have the stub nib that I specifically wanted (not available for the Koloro), the Demonstrator's ink volume is significantly greater than the Koloro's, and the two pen colors that I would be interested in (gray or clear) are not available for the Koloro. All in all, I like my Opus 88 Demonstrator, and I am happy. I would also give Opus an overall 'thumbs up' on my initial experience!
