Really nice dial and overall design of the case itself. But like most Orient automatics, this is one is non-hacking and non manual-winding. And I'm not interested in any workarounds, or tricky ways to get around the non-hacking aspect. I could live with non-hacking, but not non-winding. Also, the price here is nothing exceptional. Check eBay for prior sales and present offerings. But I really like the dial and case...

Yep, I fell for the mako II when it dropped, got the blue dial one, it's a sweet peice.

terapr0Because if you have more than one watch you don't want to shake it for 10 minutes when you grab it. You want to wind it. That's why I care. If you don't care, well great for you...

Why would you need to shake it for 10minutes? You should be able to generate sufficient energy to start the watch almost immediately. I own more than 3 dozen automatic watches (a combo of self and manual winding) and have never had to gently rotate any of them for more than 15 or 20 seconds before setting the time, throwing it on my wrist and starting my day.
I mean obviously it’s about personal preference, and I’m not deriding your opinion - I just see a number of other people making similar comments about wanting manual wind and always wondered why. I don’t understand it myself, but do whatever makes you happy.

Right: there isn't one. There are NO drawbacks whatsoever of having this option. That's not personal preference but a fact.
Another question: which one of your automatics that do no have hand winding offer hacking?
I'm sure you're now going to also make a case that hacking doesn't matter as well?
It's like you are trying to make a case for not having the features/comfort that modern automatics should offer?
So call that preference: I call it common sense..
