PoopstickerIt is water resistant and the screw down crown helps ensure proper positioning before going in the water but that's about it. Think of water resistant in terms of fire resistant. A fire resistant tent will still burn down, just like yiur water resistant watch will still take in moisture. If you want to take a watch 100m into the water look for an ISO certification. As far as this watch, I would splash around at waste level and maybe do a slow lap in a pool, but I wouldn't go more than 2 or 3 meters deep with it.
PoopstickerWhoever invented the water resistant rating ought to be shot :p Please don't be fooled by the numbers in watch water resistant ratings. They are not what you think they are. Have a look here for what it really means:

sanriopurinI found this to be very helpful and interesting, thanks!
"As the watch ages the seals begin to erode & will not maintain the same water resistance levels." ^^^^^^^^^^ I'm just basically going to try and avoid getting my watch wet then ;p better safe than sorry.
PoopstickerVery informative article, thanks!
Poopsticker, I have a 20 year old 100M chronograph that just started getting moisture inside the crystal after being splashed/showered. The o-ring gasket is completely brittle and will be replaced on next battery change. I don't think you'll have any issues with a brand new watch for quite a while ; )
