The Orient Disk features a unique design in which the hour hand is cut out of a rotating disk. As time passes, the center disk on the dial rotates clockwise so that the stationary hour hand indicates the current hour. And because it features a cut-out design, this two-tone hour hand changes color as the day progresses. Though they remain the same color throughout the day, the hour markers also feature this skeletonized aesthetic, adding more depth to the dial. In addition to minute markers, the dial features 12 more hour markers on the outer ring as well as an Orient logo at 12 o’clock.

The watch is powered by Orient’s caliber 48743, a 21-jewel movement that beats at 21,600 bph, or six beats per second. This makes for a sweeping seconds hand, albeit one with a noticeable tick. Though it offers a date function and a 40-hour power reserve, it isn’t hacking or hand-winding. A display caseback with a tinted crystal offers a look at the movement in action. The textured crown at 3 o’clock, which features an engraving of the Orient logo, controls the date and time.
