Couldn’t take the trouble to fix the date alignment before taking photos?

That was my thought exactly... wth is going on with the 15 being cut off and the 8 being a bold font in comparison? I figure the watch will not have this issue- Orient is a well made watch- but that is some lousy marketing shooting!

Date starts changing over around 10pm. Day starts kicking over soon after. Similar to most watches without an instant date change (Rolex, for example). Doesn’t look pretty, but very common and normal operation.

Great company, good watches, in house movements. Orient’s weak point seems to be bracelets/straps - none of mine are on their original accountrements. This is a deal, simply because this is the bottom of the price curve for these watches new. They’re not going to really drop below that $125 level, outside stacking some sort of coupon/discount/credit card reward. With that being said, if you can afford another $70-$80, I’d highly recommend switching to version 3 for the sapphire crystal upgrade. Mako USA, Kamasu, etc. My personal red, white and blue Orient collection below.

Nice collection!! I have a Mako ii (Pepsi bezel), and it's become my favorite watch. I've been putting off upgrading to a strapcode bracelet and sapphire crystal, but may be doing so soon. Question... Other than the sapphire crystal on the Mako iii, what is the difference over the ii? Is the sapphire crystal alone worth the $70-$80 additional? A replacement sapphire crystal can be purchased for around $30-$40 if you're comfortable changing the crystal yourself. Now, the Mako ii USA is a little more tempting with the better bracelet (solid end links) in addition to the sapphire crystal. But, it's $200 more than the standard Mako ii. Plus, I can't find them anywhere other than direct from Orient. I think putting a nice strapcode oyster bracelet and domed sapphire crystal on mine is the way to go (about $130 total investment over the stock watch). Are you guys finding the Mako ii USA elsewhere for less than the $315 on Orient's site?

Thanks. I’d search all the discount sites and amazon for pricing. The main reason I’d recommend stepping up to a newer version or even a triton ($375ish) other than the sapphire is that Orient really seems to be upping their game in quality and most importantly to me, accuracy. Only my Kamasu is outside of Chronometer spec, and it’s running at 7spd. The triton is more accurate than my Rolex at +\-1 spd. That being said, orient still can’t do bracelets or straps quite right. At this price point, I’d rather they put the money into the watch and I can sort out the strap myself. As far as modding, it’s fun if you are naturally a tinkerer, but a nightmare if you’re not. You also need seals/gaskets, silicon grease, and tools. And if you want to go swimming with the watch, you’ll need to get it pressure tested after any mods.

That Pepsi coloration sure is nice as is the blue dial. I Own the Ray two with the black dial and while it's the same exact watch as the mako with a different dial face It is very tempting! I already have a Seiko titanium dress watch in route though so maybe next time.

Watch is good, colors are good, price is good. If you’re looking for a decent diver, this should fill the bill. Possible to save two or three dollars elsewhere, but those sites aren’t as entertaining as MD—buy it here and strike a blow against boring shopping sites!

I don’t see the Pepsi for cheaper than 140 anywhere else. It was $143 on Jomashop last I saw. Might pull the trigger.

Generally, but not always, Walmart links are through affiliate sellers (often eBay sellers) who go through sites like Walmart, Sears, etc... Nothing particularly wrong with that, but don't assume Walmart or Sears customer service/warranties/return policies apply.

Shameless self-promotion! Good review, helps folks to see the watch in-hand to get a better idea of the size and actual colors ("factory" shots are often misleading). BTW that other watch is pronounced aqua-sea (I hate 'em).
