How the fudge can I pay for something. It says it’ll be shipped 1/15/21. I paid month ago. Now it’s delayed. How? How can you have more than a month to get it together and fail at said task? How? Please tell me I really want to know.

anthonyosborn70It's easy if it's your actual business model they've done studies, behaving this way makes consumers want what you're selling even MORE. we can't help ourselves....

What's the point in showing a watch when you aren't even going to sell the specific one? I love the gun metal version on the green nato but it's not available to buy!

The thing about Orient is that they never seem to be able to coordinate/balance the components of the dial as well as Seiko. Here the hands seem out of place/proportion; sub dials are awkwardly placed. The design seems random; even childish. I think they can do better—so can you!

The guy in the video gives me confidence—but I’ll probably start with a practice watch or two, before I tackle one of my good watches. Let us know how it turns out and don’t forget to post some shots.

Great videos thanks, I bought some junky watches at Goodwill online that will be perfect for practicing on. That was a couple years ago, seems these days those junk watches are going for a LOT more than they used to I don't even look there anymore, people bid them up like they're gold. Hopefully I'll get to the point of being able to work on some of these projects in the near future, have lots of candidates lined up and lots of nice hand sets and dials to try out, as I've been collecting them at sales times from Namoki and others...I'll def at least post some photos if I do.

Previous Drop was Defender 1 with an older movement that didn't feature hand-winding and hacking complications, this movement does (refer to caliber-corner). Crown guards would be great, but it has a screw down crown with 100m resistance, and all these things combined, at this price point, not to mention with Seiko's Lume (orient being owned by Seiko, I'm pretty sure it's the same stuff, or very similar), this is a pretty damn good buy. But that's just me.

bselectricOrient's lume is not as good as Seiko's. Seiko is much stronger.

I think a crown guard would be a useful feature in a "defender".

Well, I don't know much about field watches, or watches in general, but I use google to learn things. The first 3 results when searching for "best field watches" are: https://gearmoose.com/best-field-watches/
https://www.thetrendspotter.net/field-watches-for-men/
https://www.gearpatrol.com/watches/a498085/best-field-watches/ Rolex Explorer is on al 3 lists. I agree that there is no reason for any military to buy Rolex Explorer as their field watch. Unless it's a gift for a general :) It was just my humble opinion that a crown guard would make a watch tougher, more resistant in rough environments, and thus more suitable for military use. I probably should have just asked the question, for educational purposes, why "a field watch doesn't have a crown guard". Is this part of the definition for a "field watch"? Does it add extras that may interfere with "field" use?

florincThanks for providing those three lists of "best field watches". The seiko alpinist, which is mentioned in the gear patrol.com list, does have a crown guard.
Does the black case have a DLC or PVD coating? What is used to make the case black?

I have the older version and it is a great field watch. The right size, subtle green/gray dial color, ample lume and very good readability and reliability make it an outstanding buy. I would be all over this, if I didn't have the previous model already. I'm not sure about the movement in this model; in the previous one, it is not hand winding and non hacking, but that doesn't subtract much from the appeal of this timepiece IMO. I don't know if the price of this one is right, though, or if you could get it cheaper somewhere else.
