Always been a fan of Orient Watch Co. This movement is a great workhorse. I do a lot of watch modding and prefer the low profile of the Orient diver over the beefy Seikos. Of course, there's way more aftermarket parts for Seiko, but since they share some part dimensions, like hand sizes, there's still a lot that can be done. And the Orient Ray and Makos make for some beautiful and very wearable mods. Agree that as a standard, a sapphire crystal is always preferred. The mineral crystal and hollow bracelet definitely cheapen the product. But you get what you pay for, and it's a great price. And if you mod it, you can replace it with a fat double dome sapphire!
From an appearance standpoint, this watch is very nice. Just the right size and not too thick. I have the black metal bracelet and it is well made. Could be a bit darker shade, but a good match.
The watch was running about 15 seconds fast per day out of the box. A bit of adjustment via trial and error and now it is about 3-5 seconds fast per day. I play golf most days so it gets a lot of motion, but it does not seem to affect the accuracy.
Overall this is a very nice watch to wear on a daily basis and the price is great.
I bought this watch through drop and love it. I thought there was an issue with the movement so I contacted Orient who told me that there were no authorized Drops during the period I bought it and therefore no warranty. It wasn't much cheaper here than Orient's website so I'd recommend buying direct from Orient so you get the 1yr warranty.
This watch is a very good value, as are most Orients. The only issue I have with it is the bracelet is too long for those of us with small wrists. However links can be removed with the right strap tool.
As a side note, this watch seems to include both English and Spanish day abbreviations. As the time approaches midnight, the Spanish version shows but is then replaced by the English version as the date fully rolls over.
