Orient does make a good watch. I've always found the threshold to be start at $300 for a watch with a good automatic movement and a sapphire crystal. This is a great deal imo.

I would like to buy an entry level automatic watch for my 14 year old son to wear every day as he starts high school. I'd like to be under $400. He would like a blue dial & metal bracelet. This almost fits the bill but not quite and I don't own an Orient watch so unsure of quality/performance.
Does anyone have a reccomendation?

"Problem" with Long Island the good Orient watches are always sold out and takes forever to restock.Otherwise they have a stellar rep for watches.

Dumb question but can the metal band on this be easily replaced with a leather strap? I can't wear metal bands.

JProllzYes, you just need a strap changing tool which are super cheap. It's pretty easy to do as well.

JProllzNot dumb at all :). The answer is yes, very easy. Though you will need a band replacement tool.

This looks amazing. I don't know anything about watches, but I'm interested. Can anyone knowledgeable tell me if this is worth it?

PiggymarIt is worth it. Orient and Seiko are, in my opinion, the two best entry level automatics you can get.

PiggymarOrient is a well respected watch manufacturer. Even watch enthusiast respect them. They make their own movements and do a good job all-round. They are probably the most bang for your buck company out there next to Seiko
