Like a vintage astronomical clock, the Orient Sun & Moon automatic watch has every bit of old-world charm you could ask for. The main attraction is the sun and moon complication between 5 and 6 o’clock, which has been shifted from previous versions to concentrate on the left two thirds of the dial. As time passes, the rotating disc displays the position of the sun or moon, depending on the time of day. The other subdial tracks the day of the week, while the date window—spanning from 7 to 8 o’clock—adds another, somewhat unconventional twist. Raised Roman numerals (which have been lifted to appear bolder) line the chapter ring, and a guilloché dial ties everything together. The materials used are stainless steel for the case and sapphire for the crystal. Inside the case is Orient’s own F6B24 22-jewel automatic movement, an upgrade from the previous version.
